Report a translation problem
If you have PvP turned off, all damage from PLAYER sources should not happen.
However, NPCs can still hurt you. And they can shoot you from their ship, even if you're on foot. I've been shot at, too, but I would swear I always had some sort of warning when they were on the way or nearby.
Perm death is for those who can accept to be killed and have to start over....
It is NOT for those who are weak.
That's why I never EVER will play on hardcore mode...
I am weak.
That's why I don't play that game mode in any game. Because I might as well just roll a die to determine whether or not I'll lose my save, even if I do everything perfectly.
Best way to escape them is to use your terrain manipulator (once you have that, it doesn't take long) and just blow the ground beneath you. You build your own cave. You hide underground for a bit and then go up again.
NPC's can't land and come after you on foot, they aren't programmed to do that.
