Did they remove the permadeath game mode?
I see the description for Custom mentions permadeath, but the actual permadeath option for a new game is not showing up for me.

No. It has unfortunately become a tiny selection on the Custom Settings page. Choose Custom Mode and decide if you want the permadeath option. It should be centre stage on the game's opening title page with an awesome, terrifying picture accessible with a single click. It's a great mode.

I hope they redesign the front title page and use those fantastic No Man's Sky player screenshots to promote it again. I like the picture layout concept they have but is missing one of its greatest modes. Permadeath is a dramatic mode and should be there. :D

You can now move between Survival/PermaDeath Mode and EZPZ Mode with a click of a button.

Thanks guys. I guess that works for those of us who can force ourselves not to cheat out, but it kind of sucks for those who can't I guess.

When you start a custom game in Permadeath mode, I believe you can't un-permadeath it.

Completely untrue, Permadeath is a permanent setting that grays out the other options. It's still separate in multiplayer from the normal modes. You also can't lower the difficulty below the original permadeath settings, only increase it.

Edit: Also forgot to add, yeah, you can switch from Survival to Relaxed and vice versa, but it disables some achievements and stats permanently on that save once you do. There's also a difficulty lock in the experimental branch.

This.
(On top of that there is a "I wouldn't resist otherwise"-button implemented to lock your settings.)

I still see a perma death mode when starting a new game

Well yes... but it's referred to only in a tiny, tiny bit of text under the Custom Mode option. 'From gentle to permadeath'. I think the new Experimental patch 12th October (hopefully soon to drop) introduces a new 'locked' mode or something. Maybe Permadeath will be back on stage again in some form. : )

Selecting permadeath locks you in that mode, and experimental allows you to lock your mode, as well. So this is incorrect.

Do you know which achievements or is it all of them? Do you mean Milestones when you say achievements? How can I tell what has been disabled once I switched modes?

No, it's not in custom mode. I see creative, relaxed, survival, permadeth and custom mode when starting a new game.

Facts are not welcome in these kind of posts.

It most certainly is for me in Waypoint 4.03.

PermaDeath is the only game mode cannot be changed upon starting the game. You shouldn't spread misinformation like that.

Here's the front page. Permadeath no longer has its own screenshot and is mentioned only in tiny text under Custom.

Normal, Relaxed and Creative ought to be swapped about and Normal placed centre of screen, then Creative or Relaxed to the left if you want to parade the best experience of the game arguably to someone new.
