Sentinel capital ship disappears during space battle

Hi. I might need some input here.
So I'm in space and provoke a sentinel battle by shooting up a space station for example. Without a beat sentinel ships appears.
After a couple of waves the Sentinel capital (carrier) ship pops up. There is a bit of chaos at that point. By the time I get rid of the sentinel fighters coming with it I've lost track of its position but cannot find the carrier anywhere anymore: not on the scanner of my fighter nor by peering my eyes out through the cockpit. The "tense" music is still playing so I guess the sentinel attack is still ongoing. Any tips? Is it a bug?

Best advice I can offer, is when the Dreadnought shows up, ignore the fighters' and just focus on the Dreadnought. Recharge shields as needed.
