Controller inventory button stopped working

I'm playing on Mac, via Steam, with an XBox wireless controller.

Somewhere about a week ago, some time after finishing Relics, my inventory button (the small button on the left with the two rectangles logo on it) stopped activating my inventory. The TAB key still works for this. If I go into the settings, I can set the action to that button but (a) it shows in the settings as the XBox logo button and (b) it only opens, doesn't close, the inventory.

There are so many different settings menus around the place, and so many updates to the OS, game and of course Steam, that I've probably just hit the wrong thing somewhere, i.e., it may not be a bug. But I'm wondering if anyone else has seen the same thing or if it's just me. Or even better if someone else had this happen to them and knows how to fix it, I'd be super grateful for the help...

This is a bug introduced in the latest update. It appears to only affect people on Macs (including me). A few other Mac users and I have reported the bug using the Hello Games Zendesk support form, but so far it hasn’t been fixed yet.

As a temporary workaround until they fix this, I used Steam’s controller settings for NMS to map the “share” button (the centre button below the big Xbox logo button) to the TAB key on the keyboard.

Yep, same problem. Submit a ticket to Hello Games, but in the meantime you can remap the inventory button in the game. It will show up as the XBox logo button in the UI but it will work to access inventories (do it on all remap screens). It will not work to skip the milestone and warp-in messages, you just have to let those play.

Thanks! It's really good to know it's not just me. I'll try remapping the share button to TAB, I didn't think of that and I'm sure that will tide me over until this gets fixed.

Same problem here on my Mac. I have to use the Tab button instead which is annoying. I tried everything too. I went in to configure the controller differently and that didn't work either. For reference I am use an Xbox one controller that worked before an doesn't anymore. I tried multipule controllers. I used Steam on my sons PC and the same controllers work on the PC NMS. Here is hoping for a fix.

By the way rawsoncj how do you do the mapping the way you described. Couldn't you just use the same button to map it to the Tab on the computer? Or is it the button itself?
