Going to a new galaxy -why?
They're all the same. Well, some differences in the types of planets you can get, weather, etc. but once you've played awhile there's simply no reason to keep going to the next galaxy, it's the same as the last one. It begins to not even matter where you are any more, and I find this very strange.

But what if there was a unique item in every galaxy that you could collect? Or a unique upgrade? Or 16 items that you could upgrade 16 times each (to save inventory space, 256 unique items would be too much to store obviously). A super-weapon or unique helmet or something like that. My brother suggested a single-use item in each galaxy that you could use to rename that galaxy like you can rename everything else.

Anyhow just an idea to make it worthwhile to keep going instead of finally giving up in galaxy 72 and going back and playing my old long-abandoned save games.

There is no gameplay reason to leave Euclid. There are still vast undiscovered areas bigger than the Milky way to explore there. Still some players like to feel even more isolated so they leave Euclid. I like to explore lush galaxies because there's a better chance to find lush planets, which saves me time.

Having something unique to find in each of the 256 galaxies is not a bad idea. But in order for each player to have a chance of finding one, this unique thing will be as hard to find as robot dogs or something like that.

And this goes against HG's galactic forge algorithm so don't expect to ever see it happen.

To explore is to discover yourself, friend!

That's me.

Agreed. You should present this idea to the official channels, op.
To get away from people.

Because of how it is crafted, the game does not do unique. A player needs to be able to accomplish all missions regardless of where they are in NMS space.

Back in the day, it was a big deal to change galaxies because you could not return and you lost access to all stuff left behind in the old galaxy. A lot of game stuff had a purpose and you had to make hard decisions about suit, ship, and tool choices.

Over the years, all those tough decisions melted away and replaced by a lot of social gaming action and bling. It is still an okay game, but the golden age for the game came and went. Since Next it is more about upgrading and getting your gear just so. Some stylized combat added that is still very easy unless you make choices not to have it be easy.

The Devs listened to the players and they gave us what was asked for by the majority. Even now, players want more automation so they can technically do nothing and the game just does everything. (But, they like complaining about how there is nothing to do while they use every exploit in the book to bypass playing the game.)

Thanks for the laughs :steamhappy:

Btw, do you still play NMS, Mr B?

perhaps because one of the objectives is to cross the 250 "centers", which means learning 750 words of races and 250 words of the Atlas, that "000000000000" is not the closest to the center, only the closest and with a little logic you you are located 2,800 from the center in any galaxy, and that it is not only to see systems and planets, if you read the exploration guide carefully

How big is the galaxy? i mean i though it was just one galaxy to explore. Would be cool to see new alien species, new ships, point of interests, so on. Not sure if even worth traveling to another galaxy, but i leave that to others that has and see what they got to say about the game itself.

Euclid is needlessly massive

There are 255 more galaxies similar to Euclid:

There's no reason to leave Euclid.

Because it's there ! That's the reason why mainkind has climbed the Everest or went to the moon :)

Why go to another galaxy? Because you can :cleankey:

To an extent, there's not a whole lot to do in the game beyond doing stuff for the sheer sake of doing it. The game has breadth, but isn't particularly deep, literally in the case of oceans. If you don't like the fundamental gameplay loop common to many survival games of mining, crafting, exploring, there's not much the game has to offer beyond a gorgeous procedurally generated universe to play in.

I'm collecting galaxies the way people collect ships, etc. It's a thing to do.

Not everything has to have a reason, and even less have to have a reason that is agreeable to every other player.

Exactly. If someone has to ask this question, they should spend more time playing the game and figure out what they like doing before jumping to another galaxy.
I go to other galaxies to explore planets I have never seen before. I hardly ever go to Eissentam because it is like a chocolate box galaxy full of paradise planets. (which are nice but I like variety and drama) There are far more wild galaxies with variations if you actually take the time to discover and explore. Each galaxy has almost infinite planets and infinite things and landscapes to discover and explore.

The other great reason is to visit all 256 galaxies and put a single base down so I can return at will at my own choosing and not rely on another player for a taxi service.

One other thing I enjoy doing is visiting player bases and their unique works of art that have been created in other galaxies. That is one way of reaching the galaxies easily by visiting bases at the Anomaly teleport.

It would be nice to see more missions or rewards or stories that require players to make an effort to travel to the further galaxies other than the main story. New players have enough to be overwhelmed with in a single galaxy so I have always thought other galaxies as a bonus and a likely 'placement holder' for later development. One galaxy is in practical terms, enough for a lifetime of play. Another 255 well that's just 255 times the fun. Why anyone would dream of complaining about that is beyond me.

There could be hundreds or thousands of ideas to have a reason to travel to other galaxies. I'm sure Hello Games are aware of this and at some point will introduce new things to the game that will make more interesting use of galaxies. They're still fun though to go to even now. New portal designs and more immersive turning of locks or something to activate the new designs would be cool. If new portals unlock travel to other galaxies or stories so much for the better. Portals and black holes should be awesome and some more terrifying to behold and dare to travel through.

I'd like to be able to place items or clues in my bases for others to seek out and find. Perhaps we could make our own posters or something simple like that. I'm sure there are many good illustrators who'd love to create some unique designs for others to collect.

A treasure hunt kind of thing perhaps like a custom expedition, navigating difficult terrain or defeating certain creatures solo or in a group. Like you suggest it would be easy enough to implement unique cosmetic or tech items to be found in other galaxies or another 256 races to contact for whatever reason. Maybe journeying with our frigates to other galaxies and taking part with new characters and their fleet missions. Heck the entire universe of Dune could be absorbed into a single galaxy. No Man's Sky has endless potential which is the great thing about the game. With each update the Hello Games universe can be all sorts of things.
