Oxygen - how to make
What are your guys preferred way of making oxygen ?
Is there a nice production line out there that I can use that don't need hops from system to system (hello loading screen simulator).

If you don't want to buy Oxygen at every station then you can mine it on every planet.

Scan for gas, put down a base with a gas extractor, build up from there.

Gas extractor works 100% of the time. Oxygen harvester works OK in single player off line mode but is riddled with bugs in both single player and especially multiplayer.

Other than those 2 things you either have to teleport to space stations to buy it or set up bases near patches of oxygen flowers on planets and in locations that have large patches.

You can also just find it while exploring. Oxygen flowers glow in the dark (turn off your torch and they are much easier to find), harvesting hazardous plants (on surface and in caves). If you are looking for it merely for life support you can substitute dioxite or life support gel.

I generally buy it from Space Stations, but when I've made oxygen, it's usually in conjunction with Industrial Gas Collectors (as opposed to Oxygen harvesters). https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Concentrated_Gas_Cloud

I never specifically make a base for Oxygen collection. It's usually for automatically collecting some other resource (sulfurine, radon, nitrogen, uranium, dioxite, phosphorus, etc.) That is resources used in making stasis devices and fusion ignitors. Sometimes oxygen hot spots are also available.

Even before you obtain the ability to make stasis devices and fusion ignitors, collecting the intermediate resources and selling the excess at a galactic terminal results in more than enough units to buy oxygen from any space station. High wealth systems generally have more resources to sell, including oxygen, of course, if you want to avoid teleporting to a lot of space stations. Plus you generally should want to keep high wealth systems on your teleport list, even if you don't want to build a base in that system to ensure it.

Acquired a settlement only so I could get the exomech upgrades.

Bored, did some scans and power, gas, minerals. So my settlement now has a collection of silos and I'm up to my backside in oxygen and silver.

That's the easy way ....

easiest to just buy...every space station and the ships that land on them always carry loads of oxygen

I just buy the whole stock of every station I encounter, like ferrite dust. It's cheap and saves time.
I just buy them now because it's much easier. I tried using that extractor which requires carbon but you have to stay with it or items will stop or disappear like the refinery.

If you are in Euclid you can get some for free.

There's always the Large Refiner "artifical photosynthesis" mix:
1 Kelp Sac+ 1 of any plant crop except NipNip + 1 Condensed Carbon = 10 Oxygen
if you're low on units & high on mats.

I kill every Hazard Plant I see. EVERY one.
I also kill every Crab or bug-faced creature I see. EVERY one.

I routinely take every single "Kill X Animals" and "Kill X Predators" mission at every Space Station I pass due to the sheer quantity of dead crabs in my wake.

Anyway, I don't worry about Oxygen. Hazardous flora are mostly made of Oxygen for some reason.

O2 is mainly for crafting. If you're running out of it there's a good chance you're trying to recharge your life support system with it. Don't do that. Instead blast the blue dihydrogen crystals and any nearby plant to make life support gel. Each of these are full life support system recharges. Once you start making a few of those you'll never really be low on O2 again. Because the other uses for dihydrogen are ship repair and launch fuel... which aren't exactly high demand uses. Same deal with Na and Ion Batteries.

For getting O2... remember that the red pods on the sides of bursting pod flora all give extra O2 if you get close enough to pick all three before you blast down the plant. Ditto with the red ball in the center of a flytrap plant. They're not big hauls, but they help in a pinch. Other than that, best way is as others have said: buy out the space station whenever it's offered. The stuff is dirt cheap. And again, if you're not using it to power your suit, a little goes a long way.

It pretty much depends on where a player is at in the NMS life cycle.

If you're running a lot of frigate missions, you probably don't want to waste dihydrogen on life support. While you can convert one dihydrogen jelly into 50 dihydrogen, whereas it only costs you 40 dihydrogen to make the jelly, it becomes tedious, since you can only place a limited amount of jelly in a refiner.

And If you're running a lot of frigate missions, you have plenty of units to be able to buy oxygen, which is sold at all space stations.

I'm a crafter type, and so need vast amounts of oxygen, which is used in a huge amount of recipes https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Oxygen

So I usually have several stacks of it bought from space stations as well am convinced that oxygen plants must die whenever I see them, and so using it for life support is a trivial amount. As well as mine dihydrogen on planets whenever I see them.

Edited Note: My favorite use for oxygen is to use it to convert carbon into condensed carbon, then multiply the condensed carbon. Carbon can rarely be bought (and usually only then, when you can recognize that some other item can be refined into carbon), and while you can convert a lot of plants to carbon, I have a better use for plants than doing that.

You use frigate fuel for frigate missions? Why?

Because I can hit the units cap and can afford to and have no free frigate slots on my main save to hire supply frigates. And so I can buy all the oxygen I want.
