Can other people access your storage containers?
I mean if I've built a base with storage containers in it, and someone else clicks on the container, will they get their storage containers for those numbers, or will they access mine?

Okay. Phew. I just needed some containers at a base so I made a locked storage room for them, but I guess I don't have to keep the place locked up if nobody can access my stuff.

Nope. Each storage container only accesses YOUR inventory, as wkitty said. So if you go to someone else's base and access their container # 1, you will see what you have in your container # 1. In that way, they are sort of like quantum storage units.

So no one can raid you, thankfully!

Out of morbid curiosity then... is there any way to populate a container explicitly FOR other players? Like a giftbox?

And what about storage silos for auto-mined stuff? Can other players claim the stuff from them?

No. The only way to transfer items is by actually transferring them (meeting with players and transferring the items directly).

Yes, but its contents are still unique to each player, so when you go to claim the materials, it makes no difference to you if someone else did it too.

no, but I like that idea, but I'm still holding out hope for a guestbook sometime soon.

Haha. : ) I have one base that demands visitors hack through two locked doors with an electronic key pad and another that must navigate a route through an underground maze. Then solve a puzzle to open another locked door. Then another puzzle to unlock a teleport door to by-pass everything to reach a huge farm of every single plant type, depots of activated metals, first aid, trade terminal and a teleport back to the landing pad and restaurant at the top : D.

Oh and before any of that they have to find the power switch to turn on the entire base to unlock the front door and galactic trade terminals, operated by a proximity switch. Then climb down some ladders to the power room, to flip the main 1 million kwh power switch or use the deliberately placed, timed bio-fuel batteries and solar energy that charge a set of batteries, that may lock a player inside until dawn if they don't use enough fuel before the timer runs out or the sun goes down, unless they flip that switch.

Then its a long climb to the top of the entire complex several flights of stairs high, to find the switch that unlocks the maze door entrance back at bottom, beneath the ground. Did I mention the secret ball switch? And the hidden ladder and switch to open a single hidden exit door to the surface that can only be found by entering the base. Once that is finally unlocked, anyone can freely come and plunder the base at any time if they can survive the extreme storms, predators and bounty hunters ...

I really ought to tidy up the skeletons ...

But yeah all the storage containers, first aid and hazard units are free to access your private storage inventories, if you're alive. : D

Yes. However only in multiplayer situations will you see it disappear if other players are in the same instance. Then it would be a timed wait for the silos to replenish. SO you could place silos in a locked room to prevent access or least access to the interact button or at least provide other players a fun challenge to solve to get to the silos. : )

FYI, the exocraft stations work the same way. If you have one at your base, they will get their instance of the exocraft.

As an Expedition tip, I regularly use other player's storage containers to store my excess stuff. It works, even if I haven't built a storage container yet. The remote downside is you have to find a base with storage containers if you want your stuff back. (or build your own) I usually have a pretty good idea of what can be stored long term so it works for me.

yep! what Mr.B said... this is also why, during Expedition 8, if you did the optional milestone and went to look around someone else's freighter, you saw your own freighter layout and possibly even your own actual freighter skin...
