Settlement building opportunities
Is anyone else having an issue with the same building choices being offered over and over again? I've now built three Bazaar's and three Landing pads. I don't want to build anymore of these but it seems these are my only choices.

It appears to be randomly generated. I only had two markets and landing pads.

Be aware that the sellers in the markets sell different items and are essentially the same NPC from the back of the minor settlement. The stuff they sell can be very helpful if you are building high end items like igniters or stasis devices. Having three might be the best thing ever.

Thanks for responding. I'm going to give up on the settlements until improvements are made to the settlement mechanics.

why exactly do you not want to build more of those? dont they bring you more profit, which is what its all about?

I wouldnt worry about it too much. Based on my current settlement size and density, I'm assuming you can build somewhere around 100-200 buildings if it covers the full settlement flattened area. There probably aren't that many types, so by the end of it your likely to have dozens of each.

As for profitability, ehhh. The productivity doesn't translate directly into income. for example my settlement has costs of 200k and productivity of 550k, yet the produce of the settlement is only worth ~70k per day.

It's entirely possible that productivity only needs to be 'above' costs and that excess is wasted, and that the produce of the settlement is based on the buildings. e.g. more farms = better plant produce and so forth.

Or maybe the two products are fixed to the settlement seed? who knows. (no really, who knows?). Either way, the income is pretty miniscule so I'm just going for aesthetics

*edit*
Higher productivity is still useful for clearing settlement debt from random events. That's possibly the only purpose for it though.

My net productivity is just under 500K units and produces 20 geknip and 20 ion capacitors daily. The Freighter missions produce much higher yields if I was looking for income.

My issue with the settlement builds is it appears that there's no variety (at least for my settlement). I currently have 3 each of the Bazaar's and Sky Ports and I think this is already excessive given the size of the settlement. In my mind it would be like a town that has 3 truck stops and 3 big box stores. It doesn't seem very well thought out and doesn't motivate me to continue developing the settlement when my building choices are more of the same.

I don't know that I have room for 100+ buildings on my site as it backs into a rock wall on one side and steep hills on the other three sides. Perhaps just a poor location...

I'll continue exploring and see what the subsequent updates bring to the settlements. Thanks

it's luck of the draw somewhat, if you get given the choice between spaceport and bazaar you dont really have an option. I'll have to visit some more settlements but they seem to have a fixed size location carved into the ground thats roughly 10x10 buildings in size ( i was somewhat off with 200, but 100, or 99 + town centre, looks doable)

Same for me, I now have 3 docks, 2 saloons (though one is called a saloon, the other a dance club, but it's the same building with slightly different interior), a tower and a marketplace, plus 2 large appartment buildings, of which 1 floats in midair, as it looks to be built outside the settlement space. And now it's asking me if I want to build another dock or another market. I know from a previous settlement that there also is a mining plant kind of building, but other than that there doesn't seem to be much in terms of building variety, which is a little sad. Plus, I wish the building thing was more up to us, as in, we as the Overseer, propose two or three buildings, and get a poll and can then decide, instead of the settlers polling for 2 random buildings. I also'd love for the buildings to make more sense, I guess? Like, my settlement has chocking air, so an air purification plant, as a bigger project, would be awesome, to get rid of that negative trait, f.e.

I'm still having problems with only being able to have maybe four building opportunities in a settlement before it just gives settler disputes or policy decisions. Haven't yet been able to build a large settlement. Most of the time I get no housing buildings at all.

One of my markets sold drop pod coordinates. They were always stocked with three. So I'd buy them, located them, come back and buy three more, etc. I maxed my inventory space out in a hour or so.

Getting rid of the negative stuff can occur through visitor interactions. It would be nice to have direct control of them, but all my neg stats were gone after a couple days of playing. So at least there is that.

I wish I could build more markets or saloons. All I get offered are hazard units and generator rooms, which are all the same square empty building. I was thrilled about the idea of settlements, but as of now, it's boring as hell and not worth the efford.

I have 5 marketplaces, 4 landing pads, 1 tower, 1 saloon, and have built out 2 dwelling places. I no longer get any building options; only disputes, visitors, and citizen requests.

After building three of everything I don't get any construction opportunities. That may be population based, only have 40 residents.

I have two landing pads and two markets and my current choice is either a market or landing pad. I put my foot down! No more!

I think HG will address this in the future. I can't imagined that they envisioned a bunch of settlements that consist of markets and landing pads.

My settlement is S-class and doing just fine. I've stopped making choices on my settlement and moved on to other things.

Sounds like HG needs to do some work on Settlements. Oh well, it was a nice distraction but until it gets fixed I'll be heading back into deep space. See you all out there!
