Grass animation ruins VR
The grass moves in unnatural ways and it ruins VR for me regardless of setting. +1 for a change to the grass system. I'm not interested in having the rug pulled out from under me every time the wind blows, and it's not an issue in 2D since there are other things in my vision range that are stationary. (Actually its pretty sickening to go to a grass area and fill your vision with grass by looking strait down, even in 2D.) I honestly believe that the majority of people complaining about motion sickness are missing the whole grass thing. The grass is moving like a sea, not windblown grass. Walking on dry land feels like walking on water every few seconds. I imagine many players are not understanding why they are feeling sick. It makes perfect sense to me and is VERY noticeable on high refresh HMD's that fill your vision. It's like a portion of the game's animations are so highly relatable to water that it makes you literally feel at sea.

My current work arounds:

1. Only visit planets that don't have grass.
2. Don't look down
3. Destroy all grass within range of you by terraforming.
4. Play a game with different grass

Maybe I'm the only one noticing this or maybe I'm attacking a subject that is already well poured over. Either way I believe if developers of the "grass engine" walked away from fluid dynamics we would have a much better game overall. Or give us a check box to kill the grass animation as a workaround.

Thoughts? Is there a setting I'm missing that would fix my issue?

Keep off the grass! /meme

p.s. first time I've seen this subject, so nice change of pace OP.
p.p.s. there might be mod for this?

I really don't understand what are you complaining about? Maybe it's a personal issue?
I don't play on VR, like most people.

If you've ever stood on a beach and felt like falling over because a wave is rushing over your feet it's the same sensation. VR truly fools me into thinking I'm standing there, and when the ground starts moving under your feet you naturally brace yourself. I switch over to using my sea legs to compensate, and then I fall over or wobble unnaturally lol. Maybe it's because I've spent a decent amount of time on real boats. I also cannot play VR sailing because I can't feel the boat move underneath me properly. Weird VR problems I know.
I didn't notice the grass making me sick prior to VR, but this game always made me motion sick.

Researching mods now. I don't want to disable the grass. (found a mod to do that if necessary.) I feel that it is the only game breaking issue, and would hinder planet diversity. It's certainly not a bug, and I wouldn't "bug" the developers about it yet.

I've had friends say they struggle with motion sickness on this game depending on what planet they are on. They always assumed it was certain colors.
I'm the only one of us that has tried it in VR.

Thanks and I'm up for modding :D Maybe I can slow down the grass to barely moving. Or reduce the wind's ability to impact the grass.

any update to this? bought the game way back, because it would support VR, tried it for less than 2 minuts in VR, then uninstalled it. Not once in all my hours of VR have I had motion sickness, but this one grass planet I was on gave me instant nausea.
