Can We summon an Exocraft without building a new platform for it?
I am enjoying using the exocraft and learning how they work. I was wondering if we need to built a new version/platform on each new planet or system we go to? Would like to be able to use them wherever i go but was not sure if we have to actually BUILD a new one each time esp if we are in a new system? appreciate help from veterans here, as they dont really give us a detailed "how to" about some of this in the game, at least not that I have found.

I am also wondering if we add on the extreme weather upgrades or enough of them, will it allow us to ride out storms when "in" the exocraft, as the camera shows us on top of them but was not sure if the game considers us "inside"

thanks in advance

1st you get a exocraft summoning station
build it, cal your exocraft and pick it back up

2nd freighter, its a flying mobile base
as soon as u buy and install the exocraft summoning module
call the freighter into your system, call your exocraft now anytime anywhere

and if you are in an exocraft or on the fishing thing you are protected from storm and atmosphere

ok thanks havent dealt with freighters yet. but thanks a lot for the word about protectoin from storms. that helps. was going back to my base each time a big storm came, on one planet i use a lot it is a ice and snow world but had tons of ferite and pure ferite and a LOT of buried Tech..and NO dangerous animals yet that i have seen so is a great resource place. but it does have really big cold storms. :0

thanks again

If you have only the vehicle bay blueprint, you must first place a vehicle bay on a planet's surface in order to summon the corresponding exocraft while you are there.

If you have both the vehicle bay blueprint and the summoning station blueprint, the second is used to summon your 'craft to worlds on which the first has not been placed.

If you have both a vehicle bay *somewhere* and the orbital exocraft materialiser aboard your freighter, you will not need the summoning station but will need to move your freighter into a system in order to summon any vehicles there.

To summarise: place 1 (one) exocraft geobay / nautilon chamber at minimum.

Build it in your base; build it in any open space; dig a deep hole, build it there, fill the hole in again and forget about it. The only thing that matters is that it exists.

~~~
Also note: while the Nautilon and Minotaur both are weatherproof* by default, hazard shielding on other exocraft is very much an optional extra. Furthermore, wheeled vehicles are not fully pressurised so underwater excursions are to be avoided for the most part.
*Cyclones may be safely ignored; lightning and meteor showers may not.
I could have filled in a settlement to keep them safe. However i built a big ass robot and it now has AI and stomps around the place blowing up entities that do the settlers any harm.
Terrain editor has "restore" mode, V changes modes.
Burying the 'bay isn't necessary - it's just something one can potentially do, like sealing solar panels inside an opaque container with no access to direct sunlight. The panels still work regardless and you have a few fewer unsightly blots on the landscape to spoil your view. 😁
Note that if you don't have the freighter room, or you are in (eg) a blue star system and your freighter can't come to you, you only need the summoning station to get it the first time. You can then delete the station, and summon the vehicle to you from anywhere else on that planet, as long as it is on that planet.
No Man's Sky wiki says,[nomanssky.fandom.com]
Exocraft Summoning Station is a base building product that is used to summon Exocraft.
Once the station is built, the player can summon an exocraft on any planet in that system as long as the player has built the geobay for that exocraft somewhere else in the system.
You can pick it up and also carry it in your exosuit to use in another location. :)
I wish you could, but I think you can only deconstruct it back to its materials. If you could pick it up you wouldn't run the risk of using the materials for something else accidentally.
Completely unrelated to thread, but I read that as "private mobile base" on first pass. Morrowind modding has ruined me.
The Summoning Station is a different part. That can be picked up and will not need constructing again using resources and so can be placed down in another position. The individual exocraft geobays will deconstruct. The names can be a little confusing when the parts look similar. The summoning station has the rotating radar panel on top.
  • make a base, any base. put down all the exocraft stations that you want, minotaur/nomad etc.
  • construct an 'Exocraft Summoning Station'. You can deploy this anywhere in the game, different galaxy, planets, systems, anywhere. Then, use the summoning menu to summon the exocraft of your choice.
  • AND/OR. build a exocraft summoning station on your freighter, then you can call the exo without the need to deploy the summoning station, but the freighter must be in the same system as you.
  • you can PICK-UP the summoning station and carry it in your inventory, exactly like the portable refiner, save beacon, nutrient processor, so never any need to build more than one.
You get the blueprint for the 'Summoning Station' from the building parts machine at the anomaly using 10 salvage data.
His answer is to pin.
At the end, I have a "vehicule garage" type base. I had a lot of fun making RP bases (mining for the biggest vehicules, research center for the smallest, and of course a lovly underwater base for the unloved Nautilon ), and now all I have to do is "call the Freighter" and "call the exo" to find it in front of me. 3 seconds after the wish or 1 second if I have my keyboard at hand.
It's the way ! But it implies some implicit respect as to vanish your frighter after the call in multiplayer. Was my 2 -u-
