make a series of jumps... you don't have to go the whole way in one jump...

edit: also make sure you have your Cadmium drive installed in your Star Ship so you can actually enter the system...

If you want, I'll take you to a red system. Two solutions:
1 - We'll meet in the anomaly, we'll regroup and you'll join me in a red system
2 - You send me a friend request and we'll join either through my profile or through multiplayer.
What modes do you play? Normal or PermaD...?

If you want to join me, I'm currently in a red system but I have to leave for about an hour in a few minutes.

Different coloured stars require the use of Emril, Cadmium and Indium hyperdrive modules to get to them.

You can mostly tell the star colour in the galaxy map, although it can be difficult when there is alot of bright coloured stellar cloud, especially yellow and blue, messes with red stars and makes them look more like purple.

Red stars are usually very common. there's almost always one within 1 jumps range. Or are you trying to get to a specific red star?

Are you ready to play now? If so, I'll start my game and you'll join me. I'm in a red system:steamhappy:

"Follow the mission" might be pointing you at a red star that was near you when you first got the mission, but you've moved somewhere else since then and now it's very far away. You might be able to reset the mission to find a closer one (bottom of the mission page when the mission is selected). Or, much more simply, just look for an actual red star (as in the color) on the galaxy map.

No offense, but there in no way a red system is 20 jumps away. Are you sure you don't have a filter on your map that is changing the colors of the planets?

Billions of planets in all directions. Why can't he have a goal at 20 jumps? or just ahead but too far, and the proposed path goes around to find a star with a possible jump. I already see two possibilities that you say are impossible. Can you clarify?

OP, If you cant jump, remember this :

- Spaceships have a small warp range, but the standard distance varies from ship to ship.
- You can buy upgrades on the warp drive, and to buy them in the Anomaly, you can buy ready-made ones in space stations or some buildings on planets. - You can use an overpowered slot. Put the warp drive or a boost from it on this slot and the distance will be improved as well.
- The freighter can also jump.
- Don't trust the path. Use free view and check the distances.

It's unlikely to the point of near impossibility that THE CLOSEST red star is 20 jumps away. I suspect that the route they are following is to a red star that was close to a previous system they were at. But if they just need to find some cadmium, there is almost certainly one within one jump.

If you want to go to any red star, just open the map and select one within range. If you're following a mission to a specific red star then you're just gonna have to make the jumps.
