Hello Everyone,

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing No Man's Sky and letting us know about any issues you've experienced.

Steam users are able to opt-in to the Experimental Branch, where we have pushed a patch to address some problems. We'll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.


Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here on PC: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\ and here on mac: ~/Library/Application Support/HelloGames/NMS/

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.


To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu.

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

Camera Swap Left/Right not instant, have to fire Multi Tool.

The previous claim to camera adjustments in ExoCraft or On Foot do not apply ALWAYS instantly. One must exit and re enter.

Regarding the 3rd Person view in the Minotaur:
Camera Swap Left/Right not instant; POV is vastly different
The left handed view is preferred as it moves the mino far-right of the screen so you can see the landscape and aim better. With the Boots issue of the Left camera view, and the applied camera swapping to attempt to work around the broken code, one is left with a tiring routine of finding a groove.

Regarding 3rd person view "On Foot" (action set shared w/ Minotaur)
Right hand is better in caves aiming overhead as the blend will move the player out of the way showing the full screen target, as opposed to the left hand view of no target and the back of my helmet.
This is a year long observation in the difference between L/R usage and my workaround to still enjoy the game. The "Foot Rot" Boots and the not instantly applied camera is killing the joy.

Regarding again the Minotaur's Bore:
It can create terrain, yet pressing "B" dead ends and there is neither an option to restore or flatten.

Over the Weekend used the Terrain Manipulator to create a bit of earth to place a O2 harvester near a floating island to then erase all but the tiny patch needed. This failed and the terrain creation fell short by a few 40u's from a platform. Reloaded the Restore Point save prior to the attempt yet it keeps respawning no matter how far back I walked my saves back. I did a several day old restore and rebuilt all the progress I had lost to my base.

48 hours of trial and error to find this respawning keep recurring. This Base has been Uploaded many times to Server.

Played this AM after Update No Terrain Spire:

On worlds where the climate is mild (Paradise, Anomaly) the lower left HUD is not present except in Storms, which means the Depth indicator cannot be seen while using the Fishing Rigs.

You can't just press the show HUD button? It's H on PC

Press H or left arrow on pad.

It is extremely annoying that hud only pops for a few seconds. I would prefer to have it always on.

Is it count as bug or feature that you have to use smallest area when mining depoits with terrain editor? It takes forever if you do, you waste ≈75% of resources if you don't.

I'm on a new save and just had my first freighter fight. It was successful, but there was no message afterwards to board the freighter and take it for free.

There were 2 freighters there afterwards and I boarded them both, but neither were free.

I'm wondering if the message about the free freighter got missed because of a long series of milestone overlays that happened at the same time. They were for things like amounts of ships killed, standing increases, etc. There were about 4 or 5 of them and they would not accept bypassing by pressing the flat pad thing on the controller (opened my inventory instead), so I had to wait them out.

I think this once happened in a save long ago as well.

I think I figured it out. Maybe it's because I bailed on the Artemis missions just before even going to my first holoterminal. I don't think I've done the 'awaken' moment yet. Maybe that's needed before the free freighter kicks in.

I tried to land on a weird spot, and the ship just endlessly tried to land. I couldn't get it to stop, so I ended up Alt-F4'ing the thing to make it stop. FIX: You should be able to cancel a landing procedure by pressing the land button again, perhaps only after a short period.

A workaround can be to acquire any ship that has hover ability and let the graphics draw beneath the ship, while you wait above a spot to land. It can help on lower spec PCs that are not so powerful now the game has more to load. Another thing that can be adjusted is game upscaling in options and choosing best options for performance. It's not ideal I know but I was surprised how good the game still runs on quite old graphics cards and lower resoultions and frame rates. Quitting out of a graphics bug loop is always tricky.

Semicircle graphics problem again (PC Steam). It seems that the graphic artifact affects certain types of planets more. But it's serious enough!

After updating the WORLDS, it became possible to change the landscape on OTHER PEOPLE's bases. If the base of another player is 400 units away. and more from a planetary settlement, any player can change the landscape of this base. Add or remove soil on it. PLEASE fix it

Anyone have a fix for 10-slot Cold Storage on non-expedition saves? The latest patch works giving 60-slot skiffs on new saves for me, but my main save still has a 10-slot skiff. :-(
