The Liquidators expedition was a real joy for me because it had me fighting a lot of battles in the middle of storms on various planets and one of the expeditions' planets had the most dense distribution of storm crystals that I've ever seen in all my years playing NMS. Definite perma-base planet there.
If I get a somewhat flat area and don't have a base yet that where I build my base. Weather doesn't matter your base is inside.
I do agree that the extreme planets with lightning and tornadoes can be kind of fun for a short time period. The fun gets old pretty quick because they make life complicated.
Not sure if they are still around, but the planets with several types of man-eating fauna were always fun in a frantic run and shoot sort of way. I kind of enjoy the being chased part of the game.
I did a quick video of one planet because rather than shoot them, it can be fun to be the hunted.
