it looks really good. I believe worlds part 2 is active but there's no directions to start it yet.

No this game is not dead. They have been working on Light No Fire for over 5 years already and that has not effected NMS updates.

Hello Games does not publish a road map, so no one here knows exactly what will come next. However, based on information available it is generally believed another major update "Worlds part 2" in in the works. Based on what data miners have found in the game files that update might include a new star type and new planet types.

We have no idea what HG's plan is but we know there must be a Worlds Part 2 since we already got Worlds P1. This has been a very lucrative cash cow for the company and it is also what really put them on the map as a company so there may never be a real end to updates, but longer intervals might come when Light No Fire is released.

They are a very small crew but they also have the luxury of developing on their own time schedule without answering to anyone but themselves. At least the founders are probably already very well off financially so in a real sense they can just be artists and engineers without worrying about the wolf at the door.

I am sure other programmers envy them their freedom and success.

If anything, Light No Fire has driven some of their best work for No Man's Sky. Some of the bigger things we've seen in updates for NMS over the past several years were undoubtedly based on work they did for LNF.
