VR Mining Beam Help

When I point at my right hand with my left, the menu pops up and shows scanner icon, empty space, manipulator control.
The empty space had my mining beam icon there before I accidentally hit the manipulator button.
Mining beam is fully charged, intact, and loaded on my multi tool.
I've hit every button on my controllers in a many different sequences as I can think of and nothing brings back my mining beam.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Try poking at the manipulator icon again. That should swap back to the mining beam.

Right. Update to my answer.

It is a glitch when you try to switch to a different 'mode' when there is only a mining beam installed.
You need to install something else to be able to switch back.
I'm guessing that you're at a very early stage of the game and have not yet got the Terrain manipulator plans. If you're able, just follow the game tutorial until you get the plans for the terrain manipulator. (It's one of the first techs you get) As soon as you get the plans, install the terrain manipulator (even if you can't yet fully install it because of lack of resources) As soon as you do that, the middle icon will no longer be empty, and you can the switch back to the mining beam.
