Persistent bright spots sticking to the screen
This is an odd one, and may only be happening on Mac (I'm on an M1 Pro). When coming out of a menu screen, any bright spots on the screen at the time become glued to their positions. It's almost like the bloom is being rendered to a layer that is never cleaned up. I've tried fiddling with all the graphics options to try and resolve it. I've filed a ticket in Zendesk, but just in case others are having the same issue, I thought I'd post it here as well. The HelloGames folks are usually great at turning around fixes, so hopefully this gets resolved in the next patch.

+ 1 here on MBP
No adjustments make it go away.
I have the same issue since the last 2 updates = 4 days...
I play in FPS and it appears as a reflection + glare on the inside of the helmet.
It looks like it is burnt into the screen from the previous 'bright' object.

Personally I would do a Verify Files on Steam to check everything is correct with the game, its clearly an artefact of the sunrays or that kind of similar godrays, maybe there is a corrupted file there. Try disabling settings like post-processing or anything that add's extras like that to narrow down where the issue is, from the video and how it pops in and out is game related and not monitor.

Happens in 3rd person also. Game files verified, graphics settings fiddled with. M1. Definitely new in the last patch or recently since I first noticed it myself and worked out the reason.

I'm having the same issue on my M1 pro, changing the parameters didn't help either.
The only thing I can do is hitting escape to "reset" the artefact ... every minute

About all you can do is submit these issues/pics/videos with machine specs on the bug site and see if it gets some love.

Same here. The spots go away if you press esc, but as soon as a glare happens, it gets stuck again. It can get pretty bad. There's also an out of focus issue with characters closeups, like in the character editor.

Settings don't matter. From standard to ultra, 720p to 4k, it will happen.

Same issue. I took my MBP to an Apple store because i thought it was the computer. It's totally unplayable like this.

The same issue, sent two reports since Aquarius update.

There are a lot of websites posting about these issues as well. The part 1 update apparently started the problems and it seems to have gotten more widespread.

Yes, please anyone on this thread seeing this issue, file a ticket: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new The more tickets the more likely we'll get a fix. I agree that it's unplayable on the Mac right now.

What's really interesting is that it doesn't start happening until after opening a menu the first time. When the game initially loads, there's no artifacts. The artifacts only happen after opening a menu for the first time and then stick in whatever configuration they are in until opening a menu the next time. There's some effect for the menu overlay that isn't getting cleared from the screen buffer. It also weirdly appears to have it's own parallaxing or physics. The artifacts don't move exactly with the camera, it kind of sways in the direction of the camera with a bit of lag. No clue, definitely an odd one.

I set my MBP screen to 60hz and did not see any improvement = I still have persistent glare ghosting... like a screen burn in.

M1 Pro user here, also seeing this issue. Changing the refresh rate doesn't fix it for me (neither does changing other parameters). Not sure when it started (maybe 1 patch ago?)

Not sure I'd call it unplayable, but definitely makes it harder and less nice/fun to play, especially if there's a lot of contrast or glare in the scene that gets stuck. Worth reporting on Zendesk for sure. When it gets bad, I try to find a dark place in-game and open then close the menu (turn off the torch for this). That way at least the scene that gets stuck isn't as visible. Obviously, this only helps until the next time you open/close a menu.

I also have this issue. I thought the ghosting was part of the game (new player here) but it does go away or 'reset' when I go into a menu and back out again.

I am not on an M1 mac so I'm not sure that is a connection with the error. I am running on ...

iMac 3.7 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5
Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB
Sonoma 14.6.1

Fingers crossed for a speedy fix!

Had this happen while doing a derelict freighter. Made it a little annoying. When I teleported at the end, it went away. So far its the only time it happened to me.

M1 Mac Mini.

Same issue, M1 macbook pro - every menu leaves the background image highlights on the screen. Still not fixed in latest experimental update and the fauna still have broken necks.
