Crystal Fragments

[HELL ON EARTH]

Hi All

Iam still in early stages of playing the game, but wondering what I do with the crystal Fragments.As it says press E to crack them open, so wondered if I should or just sale them as they are.Ive got 50 of them, so any help would be awesome.😊

Crack them open. You will get a variable amount of Di-hydrogen. There’s also a small chance of getting a Storm Crystal.

Just depends on what you need, money isn't that hard to get in this game, and you'll always get more crystals. You can still crack them, hope for that rare storm crystal and sell the excess Di-H anyway.

Yeah, crack them open.... the main reason will be that what comes out may stack with stuff you already got, so you free up that inventory space. And as you will have noticed, inventory space is a MASSIVE HUGE problem in the early game, and its a SLOW arduous process to fix it.

Funny, when i played my first game a few months ago, i did not understand how truly bad the starting inventory space was, until recently, i was away from home, with no internet, and started a new game on my laptop. Coming from the fantastic inventory space i built up in my advanced game, back to that, was a HUGE jaw gaping shock that almost had me saying "hell no" and just close the laptop and walk away!! hehehehe

How do i create more inventory slots? is it a suit upgrade?.
And to be honest i did not really play the game since luanch much, as it was ok but not great.But now its amazing, and its hard to believe its the same game, and Hello Games are just awsome what they have done and keep doing which is incredible to be honest.

i would crack them... especially if/when you get a Freighter, you may need more ;)

You can increase your inventory space by locating drop pods, however, you are prevented from doing that early game because of antimatter canisters which pods need and your not able to build - it sucks.

You also can buy 1 inventory slot per space station.

The method i use early game is to collect crashed ships and use their inventory space. You can keep up to 12 ships, so thats allot of inventory space, but they are good for scrapping as well.

If it possible, keep Tritium Hyperclusters.
This Cluster you may use for crafting.
As you mentioned: cargo space, so act accordingly😀

Ok thank you, the game does not tell you much on certain things.
And also its very overwelmimg to, as i dont know what to do first.
Iam on my second planet, which is where the first base build starts.

crashed/ derelict ships are easy to get early game too.... all you need are those navigational data and exchange them for distress signal (forget the actual name) maps at space stations. (cartographer)

Activate the maps E and ignore the ones that are not a distress signal, including the crashed freighter. Because they will come again and again and you may not get a ship, but if you leave those ones that are not a distress signal in play, they cannot come again, so then you can get your ships for inventory space

Basically, they're just a way to give you a wider variety of rewards for doing things, without clogging the game up with excessive loot code. There are occasionally other uses for them, like the explorer's guild will take Glowing Crystals or there's a pulse engine upgrade that uses 3 Tritium Clusters, but the vast majority of the time, you're just going to process this stuff.
