Best way to max out my ships storage?
Is it better to scrap S tiers for augmentations or to just buy the slots directly? Or is there an even better way i just dont know about?

scrapping would be the cheapest way, i think... especially if you don't fix anything on the craft being scrapped... not sure how that may affect what you get from it, though...

Buy them quick and easy. If you have the units. You'll burn through a billion depending on how many storage you lack.

If not then do leg work running down the expansion devices.

I think ill probably just get s tiers to scrap cause im currently up to 75 million per slot :/

I'd say scrap A and B tiers, since S tiers don't spawn that often. Except for Exotics, which only spawn as S tiers. I expect it's a lot cheaper per storage upgrade to buy A tiers.

Buying the straight upgrade at the ship terminal gets prohibitively expensive really fast, even if you've got a billion-credit-a-day farm set up. There's a point where it's 300 million units for a single slot, which is silly, since you can buy like 10 A-tier ships for that, and be guaranteed something like 20 space upgrades.

I'm a little fuzzy on the precise math, since it's been a long, long time since I fiddled with that. Mostly I just do expeditions now since my main save has pretty much everything I'd want in terms of ships and bases.

You either burn through your cash and buy them, or salvage other starships (you only need to repair the launch thrusters and pulse drive.) Doing quests for the Autophage is a quick and easy way to find salvageable ships.
Alternatively, you can do quests from the job board on stations, or raise your reputation with one of the three guilds (merc, merchant, and explorers.) They occasionally will have storage augments as rewards, same with the Anomaly's Nexus missions.
What's "best" will be subjective, but those are your options.

Check missions, you can get a few that way, too. And don't rush it. That's something you do alongside playing the game.

Thanks for the help, unrelated question tho. Do rocket launcher mods exist? Ive never seen one in any of the space stations ive visited.

There is a heat sink rocket launcher mod that helps with the heat they generate. Its a blueprint though I think, actually unsure that is just how I remember it.

I've not seen rocket launcher upgrades in the tech shops, but there is a tech you can research/get at anamoly that is larger rocker tubes I think it's called, that reduces the cooldown time by like 20%. (I installed it on one of my ships yesterday, and put the rocket on supercharger slot to see how it goes). I've not seen any other upgrades for rocket launcher though.

I just hang around in space stations waiting for A-Classes to land, buy them, and scrap them. You get about 85% of the price back so it's not that expensive, and you'll get a storage aug about 80% of the time. You'll do much less well with B's and C's, and although S's will often give you a couple of augs, the overall cost is higher because they're more expensive (and much more uncommon).

Doing this for an hour will typically get you 15-20 augs.

There's exactly one rocket launcher upgrade - a B-class that reduces heat buildup a bit. I've never seen it at a vendor, but you can get it from the Starship specialist on the Anomaly for a handful of nanites.

There are some systems which will spawn an S class ship repeatedly, every few minutes. You can sit in a space station and just buy ship after ship. People post these systems online, along with the coordinates to reach that system.

Not only will you get storage expansions, you'll get S-class mods you can sell for nanites.

Well, you could duplicate glitch the storage modules you get when scrapping a ship sometimes, if you want to take that route..
Description here:
Place a portable refinery in front of you. Place the storage module inside of it. Place x amount of other portable refineries at the exact same spot you placed the first one. They have to clip into each other. Sometimes you have to take a step back to get it right. Then after you placed say 10 more you start deleting them with middle mouse button. The game then acts as if you had the storage module in every refinery and you will get 11 storage modules in this example. Repeat as often as needed. Go to the space station and max out your inventory.

the easiest and the legitest method is reaching the guilds to 100 to get their free stuff, find 2 traders that give you a storage augmentation and keep teleporting from the one station to the other and grind them for the expense of time but imho its lame, the freighter already gives you infinite inventory storage when you get the matter beam upgrade and just has to be in the system to access the storage containers and can take any item over literal galaxies, but there is always the difficulty option of just turning off prices or more storage so you could go with that aswell. game is sandbox, do what you like

I find that buying and scrapping is really time consuming; in my case, I use a farm to make 16 stasis devices in a day. Where I sell them, 48 (3 days' worth) gets me 760 million credits. With that money, I buy 10 slots. Rinse and repeat.

It's fast - about 10 minutes per day. And I don't have to sit around waiting for ships to buy and scrap. Been there, done that. lol.
