They did manage to make it better with their fix for it but still, some just don't seem to show up. It certainly isn't as common as it was. I think part of the problem is the terrain movement, cave types, time of day/night, storms or no storms and just pure timing. Using your scanner does seem to spawn them in faster, though.
1) Underground - Find a site with a POI, and some of the underground minerals coming out to the above ground area. They seam to spawn most there. set a save beacon, save and reload a few times.
2) Underwater - Find a the largest deepest body of water you can. Save/reload a few times While I wait, I collect Underwater Relics.
3) Flying - Find a trading post, save/reload few times.
4) Ground - location doesn't seem to matter too much, but the save/reload thing works here also.
No. The bonus is much smaller with just one. The more the fauna the bigger the bonus.
Makes sense. I've heard too many horror stories to even attempt this mission.
There are more efficient ways of farming nanites
There are. But sometimes it's a breeze too. Not all planets have cave fauna. Those are the breezes.
I do complete some planets for the fun of it. When I land, I will scan everything in the landing spot and if water is nearby I'll scan there. If I get all the water creatures in that first underwater scanning, I'll complete the planet. But if that one elusive doesn't show in about 15 minutes of looking, I'll leave.
I just completed a 16 species planet, quite easily. I was lucky, I had all but 2 in the first few minutes of landing. Only one rare flying and underground to find. Took about 15 minutes and 25 reloads to get them. If I remember correctly I got 4500 nanites for it.
I usually go at least one day and night cycle before I give up. Some critters only spawn at specific times of the day/night cycle. With birds, it is commonly morning. Some of the underground critters only at dusk. The big predator fish are more likely in deep areas of water (50+m).
There is some evidence that planets may have borked stats from prior incarnations of the galaxy. My home world in Eissentam still shows 9 fauna, even though only six now exist on the planet. When I first discovered it five years ago, there were 9 and I found them all.
I know it can be hard letting go, but it will be okay....there are countless planets.
Almost the same, i'd add that for flying/ground/water if they're not spawning sometimes just moving forward until you hit a new region will work.
But I won't spend more than about 30mins looking for the stubborn ones (keep the time short because even though the bonuses are sweet it's not worth the stress n' frustration if they don't wanna show)
OP: One of the milestones is for discovering all fauna on planets...the Anomaly Planets (1 fauna) are best for this.
