Question about the Cracking Void Egg
Just finally got my living ship and I can say that getting it is hands down the worst experience No Mans Sky has had to offer so far. It's tedious farming, waiting and gated behind the glyphs, which like me you may know 0 about until the egg mission stops making sense.

THE ACTUAL QUESTION. Why is it still in my inventory? Is there a point to buying more than one at the Quicksilver Shop? I read somewhere that it's only the first time that you have to do the obnoxious 24hr periods between ship parts, is that true?

I love the idea of making the ship difficult and time consuming to get, it should feel like an achievement because it's so unique and looks pretty nifty. But this quest line is an obnoxious chore as is. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk

Personally, I enjoy the quest, probably have too much time on my hands. But, to your question, there's no point in keeping the cracking void egg after the quest. If you ever wanted another Living Ship, you'd have to purchase another new Void Egg. However, you wouldn't have to do the quest again, just fly with the Void Egg.

You mean I don't have to do it at all? Or is it just a matter of farm again and the parts turn instantly?

Correct. Just engage the Pulse Drive and wait. You'll be "contacted" and directed to a new Living Ship on a nearby planet. If you want the ship, it will cost you 10,000 nanites. I guess that's the cost of not having to do the whole week-long quest again. :steamhappy:

That's an old bug. You can safely delete it or chuck it into a storage container for the novelty.
