End Expedition Transfer Guide
This is a repeat and updated version of an answer given on prior expeditions, thought it might help others new or unsure how best to transfer items to their Primary save, this assumes you started the expedition from an existing save game. Stand-alone games auto convert to a Primary game once the expedition button is used, no transfer is required because ending the expedition makes your game a primary save game.

Anyway, onto the guide, its basic, assumes you know where things are and can follow approximate instructions, it worked again for this expedition so you should have no issues:

******
So long as you have not ended the expedition at the anomaly using the "End Expedition" button, means you can still transfer items and technology to your main.

When you do end the expedition, everything you had becomes units and nanities, other than quicksilver that you will have been awarded/due to be awarded, so all items in storage on the expedition save is converted as above, you just get paid for them.

To transfer items to your main is a bit of a tedious task but possible, ensure you have completed all phases of the expedition, accepted all rewards AND accepted the final phase screen with the Expedition Gold and Black banner.

From there you can load up your inventory with items and technology, visit the anomaly and the expedition console to transfer items and/or technology to your primary game, once all slots are filled in the console use the RETURN key [see bottom right of screen] (right click if mouse/keyboard) to exit, DO NOT use the "End Expedition" button, I then usually jump in/out of a ship to save, this has been found to be essential as exiting the console has an auto save on exit, which is... ahem, unsafe.

Hit ESC (mouse/keyboard) and in "Options" change to "Primary Save", go to the console at the anomaly and extract all your stuff, put into cargo as needed to free up your inventory space, again I jump in/out of a ship to save and then use the console "Resume Expedition" button to switch back into the expedition and repeat until all items I want are transferred over. Note when you resume the expedition a gold popup banner goes on about the expedition is completed, close it and carry on, but it does get bugging after yours 10th item/tech transfer.

If you have good multi-tool(s) and/or ship(s) you want copied to your Primary save, make sure they are the last things you have selected before switching to the "Primary Save", even after you end the expedition, the last selected ship/multi-tool can be copied. Multiple ships and multi-tools can be copied so long as you have the nanites, it just takes repeat visits to the expedition and then primary game to transfer them one at a time, technology transfers with both but inventory does not, names often reset to their default.

For every other ship, remove tech mods, same for multi-tools, exosuit and exocrafts, transfer all you want to your primary save before scrapping them for units, if you would prefer units. If you had a freighter, scrap the base and recover materials, most of the time you will just get nanities, very little unit rewards for these.

When you finally click the "End Expedition" button and everything totals up, some other things happen. Freighters and frigates will be converted to units/nanites, bases will be transferred to your primary save as a location you can teleport to, NO inventories/items will be transferred, only your existing primary save items will be in the inventories as is what you have acquired prior.

Feel free to re-post this in future or pin as needed, hopefully someone will find it of use.

One other tip: You can chose to buy the reward ship, and clone it back in your main save. This still leaves the ship available as an expedition reward in the Quicksilver console! So if you decide to salvage an expedition reward ship, but later change your mind, you still have one chance to get another copy. For expedition reward ships that aren't exotics, this means you can salvage multiple copies to assemble parts for a full ship, and store them away allowing you to save a slot.
