Quadrupeds
Any advice to kill the quadrupeds spiders on Rucand? Exp 16 phase 4 Arachnophobia.
I am 0/8 and have been at it for about 3 hours and I keep dying b/c I cant kill them faster than the fcuknig Sentinels kill me.

Upgrade weapons or use minotaur. I used pulse grenade with an S and A upgrades and took out spider with two grenades before corrupt could fire. Others used minotaur effectively. And some used their ships.

Here is other thread on suggestions: https://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/0/4691154661545236909/

People that go close distance are the only people that have problems and die to the sentinels. You can do it from far away with just a starting multi-tool and boltcaster you get with it with no extra upgrades. Start with the healers, the flying ones, once they are dead the quads are sitting ducks, just keep the distance. Keep a steady supply of glass elixirs on you and use one when the purple bar drops to half to keep the boundary jellyfish from attacking and you are golden.

Don't just try to focus down the big boys, they aren't all that dangerous so go clear out the smaller ones first. Sentinel drops also restore shields and a segment of health, leave them on the ground until you need them.

The smaller sentinels heal the others. Take them out first.

Go slow in your star ship to scout out the areas, then just do strafing runs when you see the quadrupeds. Show them the power of air superiority. :lunar2019coolpig:

There are a few quad hunt bases around they are quite good as a shelter for the part of the expedition.

Build your own base computer when you find a Corrupted Quad spawn point (e.g. a Resonator with one guarding it or a bunch of Gravatino Balls). Build yourself an elevated fort using basic timber parts. Install and activate the Anomaly Seal to turn off the purple hazard and Boundary Horror aggro to allow you to focus on the Corrupted Sentinels.

You don't need a better weapon than the standard provided boltcaster, but it will be easier if you have upgraded it a bit. When the flyers start repairing, you can either repeatedly interrupt their repairs by hitting them a couple of times and return focus to your main target, or you can focus on the flyers to take them out completely before returning focus to the quads.

I struggled my first try. I bought a couple of upgrades and set my pulse splitter in the supercharge slot. After that I was melting them critters.

I like to find a building I can hop up on and keep those small spiders at bay - they seem to do more damage to me and I can focus on killing the flying ones that heal. Then I go after the big ones.

If you've done past expeditions and have access to the Atlas Staff in the Anomaly, you can grab that. I used that with no other upgrades.

i stayed in my ship and just repeatedly killed the spider on an island, flew up in space and back to the island to respawn it and repeated the process until the tasks were cleared. did not need to set up a base or even a mark down due to flying vertically and the islands being surrounded by water so usually easy to spot from space but i guess that would just be a matter of stepping out of the ship once to put a marker just in case. just be careful to destroy the containers they drop on the ground because they contain the items required for the other milestone (but that can be mined from the purple crystals anyway)

FWIW: i used the Paralysis Mortar to freeze them and then a highly modded projectile weapon to kill them... A-Class mods may be enough but there are numerous S-Class ones available at the various Space Stations along the way...

i also only targeted the big Quadrapeds... the others were simply a nuisance... once i took out the big Quadsrapeds, i ran over to grab the barrel they dropped and kept running to go hide from the other Sentinels until the timer ran out... the main thing is to keep moving... do not stop and stand still to target and fire... get used to "run'n'gun"... it'll save your backside more than you think...

I have to be missing something. I hear all the "use your ship to blast them" but the second i take off i get peppered with 2-3 interceptors at a time that continue to re-spawn every 8 seconds. I tried killing them but they keep respawning so i switch tactics, ignore the enemy ships to try and strafe the ground guys but i end up pumping tons of shield packs to stay in the air.

On the ground though i lose my mind. I get that i need to focus on the healers, but when i find a single quad and suddenly 6-7 healers show up all at once.. i simply cant keep up. I spent 10k rounds of ammo and like half an hour trying to widdle away the healers and dont end up with a single kill that counts towards the expedition. Its the same mechanic that made me abandon settlements too in the main game. just got so tired of the obscene amount of time i was wasting trying to out DPS a squad of healing drones. :laughtears:

i eventually forgot to mention it, but at first i destroyed the interceptors (they were coming 1 by 1) but then simply ignored them and only had to recharge the shields a few times. it's good to get back towards the ground a little bit off the spot so that your ship can already approach the spiders horizontally and at a low speed to be able to steadily shoot at it. also the interceptors will stop chasing you if you land and (?) come out of your ship. either way, they were not a big annoyance for me, and i only had the default basic C ship that the expedition provides in the beginning
