how to change ships hud color etc?
whoever thought of making the ships targeting reticle, HUD and other displays transparent and and bright color really, really didnt want to design the hud huh?
there is no reason for this to be this way.
anyways, how to you change this abomination to something that you can see?
thanks

you cant see the ship reticle or hud when the background is bright such as sky or birght light color.
the reticle and hud is white and translucent which makes it IMPOSSIBLE to see when dog fighting in those conditions.

impossible?... and yet the vast majority of players somehow do the impossible...
Lol, just pulling your leg... but yeah the only way to change this is via mods

oof still lol.
freespace 2, a dos game from the 90's, allowed hud color and translucent customization is all.
I was hoping this company would have a basic understanding of space flight sims from knowledge gained over the past 30 years.
i was wrong :P

Well I in parts agree with you. The cockpit window has tint, so the planet may actually look good when outside the ship.

Lol, nevermind... but for reference your 2 fatal mistakes
1) it's NOT a space flight sim, it's a game with a (not accidental) really low age rating
2) you assumed

ps. you realise you could pick apart virtually every game ever made with your 'logic' Lol

omg wow symantical freak. your fav game has been critiqued. oh no.
this space flight GAME'S hud is INVISIBLE when there is a brighter background making hud and controls impossible to see.

i asked for a simple "is there a very, very basic, old and well understood game mechanic for space flight GAMES and the answer is a resounding "no" which is ok.

Its a flaw within the game. they happen.
Its a bit of a massive oversight for a space flight GAME especially after nearly 40+ years of flight games with the past 30 years having this option but hey, ill need a mod from nexus.
big whoop

I'd wager his response has little to do with the critique (this forum is always filled with critique), and a lot to do with the fact that you're being smug, sneering, and hyperbolic while delivering it.

m8, critque away... i have, the point is that ANYONE who has played NMS will tell you the space flight in NMS is simplistic BY DESIGN pretty much like all of the elements that make up the game (to be accessible to young players) after 8 years 'massive oversight' you say this issue is... Lol say wot... you're the first person i've seen say that the standard ship HUD is 'impossible to see' in 4-5 years... so again not so impossible for everyone else, that seems more like a 'you issue' than a flaw (and easily solved by a mod)

ps. not my fav game... my fav chill-out game (no stress, no hard thinking, just fun)
pps. i'm still jesting with you cos i found your 'issue' funny, cos if this is your idea of 'massive' don't play the game anymore cos the real issues will blow your mind

So basically you are saying it is hard to see when it is bright, you mean just like real life? Sounds like they nailed that mechanic right on the head and you just don't like it.

I play pretty much every space flight/combat/sim game that is ever made. Most of them do not allow HUD color changes. Not saying that means games shouldn't do it, I'm just pointing that it's not considered a necessary feature by most developers....nor most players, I think, considering I rarely see complaints like this in the discussion boards for any of them.

Personally, I also wish it was a standard feature across all of the genre(s). I'm always in favor of any options that let me customize things.

+1, I'm peacefully flying over terrain and I hardly see the reticle and inclination marks against the sunlit sky. Not telling it makes flight impossible, but surely a UI flaw.

edit: ok, at least I can just use the locked mode instead of tethered
