So you beat the original Expedition and got all the rewards...
Any reason to bother with the reduxes? I mean sure you can collect more Currency and Inventory Expanding items... but I am curious if there are any unique rewards?

No, the same rewards, the REDUX just basically lets people who missed the Expedition or want to play them again, can.

Doing an expedition can also be a nice change of pace if you're a little burnt out of the regular gameplay.

For most of them, it is fun to do them again. There are a few I would not take part in because I hated them. They take a person who enjoys a certain amount of pain...which apparently there are alot.

Can't remember the exact names: One was kind of a Groundhogs Day sort of deal where one of the goals is to die. It is difficult to not die and if you do, you keep your progress but wake up back at a staging point and have to get back to where you were without dying again. It was a cool concept but frustrating as hell. I started making personal back ups so I could recover...as a person who usually does not do a lot of workarounds it was the kiss of death (pun intended) for me to ever do that again.

The other was just being trapped on one planet for almost the entire expedition. You had special ship parts that were obtusely hard to repair. Once you finally fix the ship, you go to one new location and the expedition is over. There were base icon garbage because everyone had to have a base on the same planet. The planet was one of those space high mountains with steep valleys so it was a nightmare to get anywhere. It got a little easier once we got the Mech. So bad I actually named my base "I hate this planet". Never again.

Got one interesting photo out of it so there is that.

Do they repeat the older ones? There's a decoration from expedition 4 that I want. Do I need to go to mods for that?

Expedition 8 Polestar maybe if you need more Salvaged Frigate Modules.

They're only rerunning the ones released in 2024 in the next couple months. The schedule is posted on their website & in a few places on this forum. Beyond that, we're all just players here, so we don't know any more than you do.

There's 2 ways you can cheat to get the decoration - either swap the JSON file & play offline or you can use a save editor.

I am the other way. I just purchased the game,
I wanted to try the community expedition but the game warned me that is not recommended for 1st time players.

I was concerned about that message so II started solo, with a permadeath setting. I died once but the 2nd gameplay seems to be ok. I managed to leave the original toxic planet and jump to a different star and to find a snowy planet, which are my favorite.

Now I went to the community expedition and feels boring.

So my question is, what benefits those rewards bring?
If I get those rewards, can I use them in future permadeath sessions?
Do they make the game more interesting?

Eh completing them once means you gain access to rewards that you can choose to reclaim on any future save. This can include things S-class Ships that start out decently kitted out. An S-class Frigate for you to launch on missions from your Freighter. S-class Weapons. Various customizations to play around with your appearance. Decoration blueprints... etc.

any idea which decoration it was? Most of the decorative/cosmetic stuff just ends up available at the Quicksilver vendor save for a couple unique things

Each EXPEDITION has their own Rewards and Unlocks at The Anomaly, they are all listed at the Quicksilver Synthesis Companion near the Hangar.

Ah, this helpful person has said the same almost information:

I'm not sure of the proper name but it's a skull, similar to, if not the same as, the great ocean king you can encounter in space. I actually saved up piles of salvaged data to unlock it before learning you can't actually do that.

You can run Expedition 4 at any time Offline (it's not really a mod) easily enough.

Speed runs and just because you like doing them are the only reasons.
