My PC is in a constant state of flux, the newest component in it right now is the RTX 3050.
Next will be the MOBO and RAM

^ that's only true if your PC build has hardware that's better than modern consoles. There's still people trying to game on hardware that's several generations old and the top tier hardware from those generations can still be less capable than budget modern hardware, so it's always going to vary. If you do have a decent build that's fairly modern, then probably yes. Other things that factor into the equation are that PC users can be running a LOT of stuff in the background or on other PC's that will eat into PC hardware's processing and affect performance

Most modern PS5 and Xbox Series X titles are still using the equivalent of Medium settings compared to PC settings. If you can use something like at 2080 GPU equivalent you can run most recent PC games at console equivalent settings easily, except maybe if you want to enable Ray Tracing.

The hardware in modern consoles isn't crazy high end, and neither is the PC hardware required to play PC games at console equivalent settings.

I suspect the consoles cost more in the end anyway.

You are pretty much stuck with paying whatever for the games where with a PC there are options like GoG and Steam sales which bring the TCO down considerably.

IDK, my 15 year old computer with a 4060 in it looks a lot like the PS5 screenshots.

The elitists here are just kids though, one day they'll respect the value of a games-only computer sitting by the couch that never has Windows issues and never asks you to use a keyboard.

I bet it runs smoother on the console on average. It hitches a bit loading assets because the GPU is up for it but the memory and everything else is outdated.

15 years ago I built an i5 2500k. That CPU in modern titles bottlenecks an RTX 3070 to around 40-50% utilisation and runs Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p around 25FPS whilst the CPU is pegged at almost 100% and the frametimes are bouncing around all over the place. Its slightly worse in The Last of Us Part 1.

It might look a bit close to a PS5 image quality, but it actually plays worse than an Xbox Series S - so I imagine you would have needed to build a high end i7 or equivalent from the time to still have something even remotely playable at 1080p maximum with DLSS or FSR cranked up.

Does the PS5 go to the max settings of the game? The max settings on PC go quite high.

I dont know if i'm crazy or whatever, but despite pure resolution, i'have the impression that PS5 Pro version got better detail, like more vegetation on planete (more plant / grass on ground) and obvisouly no stutter while leaving / entering a planet am i alone feeling like that ? :"

On paper the PC version is better, sure. But the HDR is busted on PC which actually makes the game overall look better on PS5.

Depends, on my monitor, HDR works fine. White is white and black is dark.
What I do notice is that in streaming it shows overly bright.

Yes? definitely. Consoles are behind in everything and personally do not understand why people buy them. PC overall is just better option for gaming.

BASED opinion tbh

I play on both PC and Xbox 1 & series X. I travel for a living and the Xbox 1 is portable and I can take it with me. I buy every game I can on both.

a PS5 and an XBOX are just PC's, there hasnt been "custom chip consoles" since the PS3, all modern consoles are bog standard PC's using bog standard PC parts, the only difference is the operating system these "consoles" use.

so yes PC's are always better provided your PC has a decently modern cpu/gpu.

Not quite true, very similar yes but still custom, they sometimes have a few unique instructions and they always cut down the cache massively as that takes huge die space.

I think the thing you gotta remember is that if AMD makes the whole computer or Microsoft is involved it's going to be very optimal. In practice Xbox was chill AF everything always just worked.
