I've recently picked up the game after a couple of years (3?) of not touching the game. Now my schedule finally clears up a bit and I am able to jump back in. I had to completely "re-learn" most of the game with all the major changes and updates (Amazing work by the way!!!!).
Titan was my first expedition, and it really served as a "crash course" for a lot of the content I've missed over the years, and it was a fun and awesome experience.
I keep learning new stuff every day, and I would really love a chance to play through the prior expeditions as well. Not to mention, there are some sweet ships I would love to add to my collection in those expeditions ;)
I mainly use it to change the output of my settlement to something actually useful/helpful. I pick the resources needed to make frigate fuel, which is a PITA to collect on a regular basis.
As noted, we never know exactly when expeditions will be re-run or when a new expedition is going to be offered. There is a reasonable expectation that at some point the expeditions will be offered up on some basis via the console in the Anomaly. No one knows if it will be one at a time, some selection of two or three with time limits like now, or even if they will just allow any and all of them as you want. That last option seems unlikely since they have to do some set up and clean up of the routes and management/bug squashing so it would be a nightmare for them if all of the expeditions were active at the same time.
They are a very small group. Last I looked they have less than 30 employees and some of those are probably administrative and not programmers. It is amazing what they have done with such a small group, but it did take them eight years to get here.
