Maybe it's time for NMS 2?
You Devs. done more than what you should have done.

At first it was not what I expected so I refunded the game and waited.
Wanted to play the game in a complete state.
So I waited.
and waited.
At some point, after the community review has turned upside down, I bought your game again to play.
You would not let me cuz I want to play this game is a complete state.
So I wanted again.
and still waiting.
Your endless update on the game would not let me jump in.

Maybe it's your time to move on to a sequel?

I hope they never complete it and keep on updating forever. That's highly unlikely however and they're already producing a new game - Light No Fire - and have stated previously they have no plans to make an NMS2.

Maybe you should just give NMS a try and discover all the things you've been missing out on for so many years?

That is exactly what I am going to do this weekend.

This is a question that gets asked every so often on the Euro Truck Sim forums, and I think the usual answer suits both games very well.
NMS runs on a custom tailored engine, I can't imagine how long it took them to rig this up because no game engine would do everything NMS out of the box. They spent years tinkering and pushing the game engine, opening up new possibilities and gameplay paths that weren't possible before. They finally have a solid platform to work on, enough that they've started making Light No Fire on the same engine, using everythng they've learned in the years following NMS release.
As long as they're not planning some groundbreaking revolution that would be impossible with the current engine, there'sno reason for that to happen. It would split the development team, split the playerbase and force everyone to buy the new game. And what would happen to the support of NMS1 if a sequel released ?
NMS is a game maintained by a studio that has vision. It became famous for its cataclysmic launch and they could've just given up here and there. Taken the money and ran. But they fixed it brick by brick, against all odds because they thought that the game they envisioned was worth seeing the light of day.
We're now 8 years after release, 8 yars of free updates for every player, well beyond the scope of "fixing" anything. They could've charged money for expansions, they could have made it a yearly game, but they didn't.

ETS2 has been the same game on the same engine for 12 years yet looks and plays nothing like what it was when it first came out. On the other hand you have games like Farming Simulator or worse Train Sim World who think they need to release a sequel every two years with marginal improvements.

No Man Sky doesn't need a sequel, it is the sequel. I don't know if the game willever be "feature-complete", not until the devs have no more ideas about what they want to add, but that doesn't mean the game is unfinished, far from it.

Maybe it's time for you to get over the idea of waiting for the game to be "complete".

Regardless the developers have announced there next game "Light No Fire" which has been in development for a number of years and might release in 2025. (Key word "might"). When that happens work on NMS with all probably wind down.

There will probably never been a "NMS 2", the developers have said they are not interested in doing sequels. Maybe someday we will get a remastered addition.

It's never going to be "complete". Stop asking.

When you do start playing NMS, make sure you learn as many Words as possible before doing any storyquests, or talking to any NPC. An underlying theme in the game is that of repeating patterns in simulations. The point is, that it doesn't matter where you start because it's not a race.

also: watch Stargate (The movie first and then SG-1)

and also also: look up "Waking Titan" its the ARG that No Man's Sky came from.

Game will be complete about the time your life is complete... I wouldn't be wishing for that too soon if I was you. Plus you already own it so why not play it while you, the game and the world work on all that completeness. LOL :summer2019mushroom:

Someday support for this game will end. That might be next year or ten years from now, but it will come.

All good things must come to an end

Why would you make a sequel of a sandbox game that’s what updates are for the closest we will get is light no fire which is a good thing because a sequel to a game like no man’s sky is pointless
Foxglovez Nov 22, 2024 @ 8:58am
Sean has said in interviews when asked that question that he wasn't interested in making a sequel.

Believe me, the game now feels complete.
