First open the Steam-Settings and navigate to download, then look for the Clean Download-Cache option. If this fixes the issue fine.
If not repeat the progress, change the Download-Region and restart your computer. After this it should download.
Right now if I recall recent threads, Macs are straight up having trouble running it at all. You might look for some threads in this section or the troubleshooting / bug report areas and see if you all have the same version of your OS or any other similar features, which might help the devs - send that info to their Zendesk reporter too.
Did you ever figure it out? Having the same issue on M1 MacBook Pro 14. I know I had this installed and working fine months ago, but now I can't install it and the cache clear does nothing for me.
This happens cause you have the No Man's Sky Trial on your account, and not the full game.
Go to Help => Support => >Games, Software, etc. => Search for No Man's Sky => If you have " Purchased as part of: No Man's Sky Trial - view receipt" click on view Receipt => Remove permanently from Account. After that you can buy No Man's Sky or play it via Family again.
I bought NMS before, some preupdate version for 5$ but still having this problem. But this is probably the solution to fix it because I was trying some trials before too.
