It's boring? And no matchmaking?

I heard it's a great game - but too boring to play consistently? Huh? I also heard there's open world multiplayer but you'll be lucky to see another play in 50 hours of game time? The hell?

You can build bases and strongholds - but no one will ever see them and they have no real purpose? It's a barbie house basically to waste your time on? What?

Good reviews, climbing in concurrent players, but people can only play for 5 hours before being consumed with boredom and have to close and uninstall?

Not really, its p2p with limited player per system instance- MP is there but theres not much to do with it basically.

People can see them, and the end goal of that game is basically making good looking bases.

Most people have a very short attention span. NMS is a niche building/space themed game that isnt for everyone at all, even if your favorite youtuber told you so.

NMS can be a multiplayer game, but you have to seek each other out, Or go to a place were odds of other players being around are good. The best place for that would be a central hub called The Anomaly, but there are several solar systems where one can often find other players as well.

Me, I like the solitude. And as for building: when I build on a planet where other players also have bases, I will build a base that looks nice, and that has some good functionality, both for myself for others, and for my ego. When on a planet with population:me , I will usually jusst build something simple and practical. Or try out some fresh ways of building. Or build something nice just for my own amusement.

And nah, not bored yet. Kind of on a semi-hiatus until I have finished Baldur's Gate 3, but still checking in a couple of times a week even if it is just to relax in my botanic garden, visit my art gallery-and-intergalactic-museum, or mess around with the bytebeat boxes in the lounge cafe overlooking the landing pads while traders come and go. It's a pleasant virtual home away from home. It's nice.

Hey, who's "people"? My play time clocked in at 533 hours here. It's my most played game ever on Steam, and I got other games that are more action oriented and theoretically "more fun", like Monster Hunter games, Elden Ring, and Helldivers 2.
