Stuck at low FPS when alt-tabbing
Before this update, my game would occasionally get stuck at a lower fps when I alt-tabbed out and back in again, but now it happens every single time and stays low until I restart. Does anyone know of any fixes? I've tried removing fullscreen optimisation on the exe file but that just made my character model become invisible. I've tried experimental as well, nothing changes.

3070, 5600X, 32GB RAM. Runs fine before I alt-tab in 2560x1440p (it does the same thing in 1080p), with DLSS on and on Balanced.

Do you have the power management mode set to maximum performance in the Nvidia settings?

I do, yes. Set specifically to NMS. Maybe I should try setting it globally?

Setting everything to High instead of Ultra seems to fix the issue for now (even though the game runs fine in Ultra until I alt-tab). Will just have to wait for a patch to be able to run Ultra again I guess.

You may use this setup in NCP

Oops, I lied, it's not fixed :(

I've tried this for a few minutes and it might have actually fixed it! Thank you!

Playing for a while longer, the issue does come back :(

You might try changing the display settings from fullscreen to borderless (or vice versa) this has really helped me on some games to avoid a delay/lag while alt tabbing.

I have tried that before, but not with the Nvidia setting Musashi suggested, will do that now!

I had a same problem with my new PC at the beginning of some games where the FPS dropped after tapping in and out, or after opening the inventory or the map.

The problem was in the BIOS, specifically the XMP profile of my RAM. Do you know anything about this and can you tell us whether your XMP profile is set correctly or whether it's set to "auto"?

I'm only having this issue with NMS unfortunately :/ And my XMP is set properly, yes! I'll double check when I next restart my PC just to be sure, but it shouldn't have changed since I set it when I bought everything :)

Setting "Vulcan/OpenGL present method" to "Prefer layered on DXGI Swapchain" in Nvidia Control Panel and running the game in Borderless seems to work for now. Thank you all for your help!

ok, because on the PC I bought, the RAM was set to DDR5-5600 in the BIOS, but I have DDR5-6000. After I changed that, these specific FPS drops disappeared.

wait... your game still runs when you alt-tab out? mine doesn't... it stops with a blue bar at the bottom of the screen going back and forth like Kitt's red scanner "eye" above its grill... this is why i use a different machine when i let refiners run when they are making large batches of stuff...

for those that do not know, Kitt is Knight Rider's 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am... "Knight Rider" is one of David Hasselhoff's well known TV shows... another was "Bay Watch"...
