as i mentioned i tried both wireless and wired options, airlink, pclink (the oculus one with the cable), steam, virtual desktop, all of them
my old card was 3080 and i couldnt play on it either, it was the same. i really, really, really want to play but cant. i remember with 3080 if i lowered resolution to 480p and lowest i think it was 30+ fps (in vr).
1) Update the video drivers
2) Make sure that the Meta app is updated to current
3) Use the link cable (I have tried airlink exactly once. Never again)
4) When you want to play, restart the PC and make sure that nothing else is running. In other words, if you have a browser that start automatically when you start your computer, turn that feature off. Browsers gobble up resources. Any other programs that are set to start automatically should also be stopped and prevented from auto loading. About the only exceptions should be any mouse/keyboard/controller profile apps and possibly anti virus stuff. If you did have a bunch of stuff autoloading, restart after turning them off.
5) Launch Steam. When it's up and running, put the VR headset on and plug in the link cable.
6) When prompted, enable Quest link. The meta app should start.
7) From within the meta app, start steam VR. (If you've never launch Steam VR from within the meta app, it might not show. In that case, take the headset off and launch steam VR from the desktop. You should only need to do this once)
8) Launch NMS from the steam VR menu while wearing the headset.
With your system, you should be able to run the game with everything set to high, and some things set to ultra.
Also search the interwebs for Oculus Debug Tool settings for good performance. A lot of the results that come back will be for either Sim Racing, DCS or Flight Sim. However, the settings and ideas are applicable to NMS as well.
I'm running a Quest 3 on a i9-13900 with 64Bg ram and an RTX 3090.
The latest update has introduced some framerate issues, but that's because the graphics setting all got re-set to defaults and I'm still playing with the settings (Anti Aliasing and filtering etc) to get better performance.
Good luck
