Planets look the same?
I might be misunderstanding but did the Worlds update already get released or was it just an announcement that it will be coming? I can't really tell a difference in planets. Does it require a fresh save?

It's released, you should notice the changes. Tho, not for Xbox players (update yet to be released) . doesn't require fresh save

You have to travel and explore quite a bit to find one of the more unusual planets. There are a lot of new fauna/flora types on the ones that didn't get any huge changes.

It might just be my luck, but seem to see a lot more unusual looking critters, plus the wind/dust/seeds and such blowing around it kind of cool. Love the water and saw some new critter types. Not even sure how to describe them they were so odd. Best approximation was some kind of very pliable jumping jack shape.

Even on the worlds you've already discovered? The planet I went to has my settlement on it, and the planet looks the same as far as I can tell.

Maybe that is it, the planet was one of my starter planets so it's probably pretty plain.

You're lucky if that's the case, cause there are many people now angry cause their planets with settlement or bases have been changed. Some planets got small changes, some completely revamped.

I saw very minor changes. Some panet got a new plant. Some got a new creature. Maybe the grass has a new tint.
Thats all.

This has been my experience too, was kind of hoping for a more drastic shake-up.
I was fully prepared and even "excited" for my bases to be broken, I'd sacrifice them for better generated planets no questions. Everything is intact and fine though, and looking the same as before. I've had one new insect critter pop up on a planet and that seems to be it. Hopefully I'll see some more wild stuff the further I go.

It's just random roll of the dice whether the one planet out the quadrillion (or whatever) that you happened to settle on/is your favorite planet for some reason, ends up changing dramatically. At least that's how I understand it.

So some will see that happen to their main base/s and main planet/s. Some won't.

guys it takes 85 billion years in real time to visit every planet if you think you're going to see everything in 2 days is ridiculous, hopefully part 2 will come this next 2 months

For what I'm observing, most noticeable changes are evident in un-hospital climates such as frozen planets. Yet, even on lush quiet planets you can notice differences.

However i visited only a few systems, still early to tell. AS matter of fact, I have not bumped yet into the new ones.

On space station you can notice Npcs having better detailed features, espcially if u look at Vy'keen textures.

tbf last time they redid planet generation, I'm pretty sure everyone universally saw changes immediately? If you use any mods that change planet generation, you see the effects of those immediately too. And the trailer did make it sound like it was a total overhaul, rather than sporadic tweaks. Can't blame people for thinking the changes would be more noticeable when that's exactly what the trailer implied they would be.

Yeah, tbf I spoke too soon(ish) in my first reply! I just hopped on for another look and tried a different non-main base of mine. Most of it is now glitched inside the planet entirely (not into a cave, into the planet, so it's just in the void and you can see through the meshes above). It's probably a bit of a write-off, I think it'd be too much work to try and retrieve all of it and rebuild it above the new ground. I don't mind though, it's the nature of an updating game - I'll go build something new somewhere else!

The planet seems to otherwise be almost identical to before, it's just seemingly got a different height map now.

Yeah I jumped back on NMS because I saw the trailer and the main planet showed looked completely different from anything I had seen before, and looked really cool, and then I jump on, and all the planets I have been too so far have been kind of dull and the same. Still a great game, but I thought this update was more of a massive in how the planets looked. If it's just one out of every 15-20, then ehhhhh.
Niliu Jul 19, 2024 @ 3:18am
It's definitely different, but similar. I don't think the idea was to make worlds you know unrecognisable, just add a bit more variety to planets that are still out there. It DID affect people's bases, there's been a few complaints about that, but all in all, I'd say it's gone pretty well.

First thing I noticed was the water.

We already have people losing their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minds because their planets changed. This update seems to have been fairly drastic, you just got the rng they were hoping for, and they got the rng you wanted.
