PC Hardware Requirements to Play v5.0 @ 4K/60fps (?)
With all the bugs and crashes people are reporting, I haven't installed the new NMS yet, but am curious if I'm going to have to buy a new PC to play in 4K rez at least at 30fps. Currently using an RTX 2080 Ti.

The 2080ti is a bit old to run 4k smoothly. Already, the 2k series wasn't even one of the best. If I well recall, the 2k series does not even support DLSS, or just the 1.0 version.

However, you don't need a new PC, just get a more recent video card like a RTX 3080 or 3090 second hand. If the 3090 is not suitable, the 4070Ti Super should do the job.

60fps is obsolete, why do you limit yourself?

I have it running fine (4k on ultra graphics preset) with an RTX 4070. CPU and RAM don't seem too crucial, but a fast SSD really seems to help

When I first started playing NMS several years ago, I could do so on 4K @ 60fps with TAA, however, after a spate of previous updates, that became impossible, but I was able to continue playing with those settings after activating DLSS. However, I'm not sure that's going to be enough after the introduction of v 5.0.

I plan on buying a new PC next year with an RTX 5090, but that's still some time away.

Err, mostly because my 55" QLED TV won't do no more, and I'm quite happy with that refresh rate.

Right now the update broke many things related to the graphic options. Especially with nvidia, so I can't say for sure. But I am able to run the game in 1440p with a stable 138fps using dlss in quality (I have a 4070s).
I would think a 2080ti should be able to run it at 60fps in 4k.
What's your cpu? The game is also very cpu intensive so there might be a bottleneck on this side.

You are recalling 100% incorrectly. The only feature the 20 series doesn't do is frame generation. Which the 30 series doesn't do either.

ok,
but gtx1080 was built for 4k@60fps and you have like over 30% more than that.
so your gpu should be sufficient.

That's not how that works. The demands of 4k varies on each game. 4k on something like fortnite is nothing compared to 4k on a game with good graphics.

I have an EVGA 2080ti (paired with a 9900k and 32 ram). It worked for (mostly) 4k/60 before - and better if I turned on DLSS (at Quality), obviously, but I also haven't downloaded/played this new version - I haven't played NMS in several months.

I'd guess it would run not that much more poorly - might have to turn some some of the settings-pretty a notch or two tho, or definitely DLSS would be a "must" vs. rather optional.

There's still plenty of games I can run at 4k/60 - as long as I don't turn ray tracing on. Hahaha. But shadows a High/Medium, no bloom/rays or whatever else doesn't bother me.

The funny thing is that, even the recent flagship from Nvidia perform poorly with Ray Tracing on xD

^ That's why I'm still waiting as long as possible to build a new rig. I knew the 40xx series still wasn't going to be the mega 4k card - even without RT - as dev's go bigger and bigger on pushing limits (and consoles updated too), as well as maybe less care to optimization etc.

Maybe the 5090. Or maybe the 6090. Or maybe....at least I don't care at all about 8k. Haha.

you just demonstrate your lack of knowledge, or worse.

Funny thing to say considering the post they were replying to from you was entirely wrong.

And you can get a mod that will do that, which shows nvidia is just trying to use it as a gimmick to sell new cards. I dont like framegen anyway because input feels whacky with it on.

Lol, raytracing isnt a easy thing to do, kinda neat that we got it as soon as we did.
