Game looks cloudy
I have been watching some videos of the new update, and I saw the game looked really nice. I have been using reshade on my game because it always looked blurry. I did read a while back that some pcs were having this problem, and did not put much thought into why. However with I was running an older AMD 3960x but upgraded to the Intes 1900ks when it was released and have the same issue. The game is blurry. Any ideas why and if there is a reasonable fix?

ROG maximus dark hero

Asus rtx 4090 tuf OC

Is DLSS on?

This game likes too default to 1080 on installation. Even when your pc will run well above that. Did you set it to 4k? Or whatever native res your screen is?

Heatmiser asked a good question. Is scaling turned on? Game is sharp and clear for me and I'm only using a 7900xt.

I would post before and after shots, but I always had issues posting screenshots and trying to do it is not worth the effort. I thought they changed it, but now My screenshots do not even show up so I am at a loss.

yes I have tried all AA settings with the same result. Again this has been doing this for a long time, I am wondering if maybe it just looks blurry to me but that blur is normal. However in the videos I saw there was no blur. I thought maybe this new update might have addressed the issue. But no

Its not really blurry as much as cloudy and out of focus. Imaging taking a picture with a camera where the image is not in focus, it looks more like that cloudy/blurry.

Even when standing still I presume?

One of the first things I do after installation, before loading a save, is to set motion blur to zero. Another setting I might check is depth of field (if it exists here, I'm no NMS expert).

Can you try these and let me know? I'll be hanging around here for a bit.

Edit: Also, try setting AA back to off (if necessary) and make sure Resolution Scaling is set to 100%. I'd be surprised if the 4090 couldn't handle this at 1440 without any help.

Another thing to try is to set all settings back to defaults, button at bottom right. After that, set settings to High preset, follow that by setting AA to off and Res Scaling to 100%, and load back in to see.

I never use motion blur or depth of field , it doesnt belong in video games. I have rechecked, motion blur is off, but I dont see DOF is it in the INI.?

It's not there, like I said, not a NMS expert, I couldn't remember. Check my edit on my last post.

I could of swore this game had color filters built in. Just checked and couldn't find them, must be thinking of something else. You haven't installed any Reshade files or anything like that and then maybe forgot about them?

big storms my power is in and out. I do have shaders, thats how I fix the game from looking so cloudy, But with the new update I re-installed the game fresh, no change.

Well, I wish I could've helped. Other than what I've shared I have no idea why this would look cloudy/out of focus on a 4090.

I said earlier it has been like that for years, way before the 4090. Maybe its just the way the game is. honestly it looks pretty poor without the shaders. Other games I would sometimes see minor improvments with shaders, like rdr2 for example. But the graphics are tack sharp in that game. I add shaders for minor color shifts. In NMS though it looks like a game from 2005. I also have it upscaled 200%, maybe thats an issue for some reason.
