World's Part 1 update (Reviews/comments)
Just spent a couple of hours playing the new update (5.0). So far, I'm very happy. Everything feels smoother, looks sharper and renders better. I have spent several minutes just flying across planets looking at the sparkling, clear water and enjoying the clouds. I haven't really done that in years, but there's now a lot more to see and it looks a lot better!

Have to say, I am lucky enough to have a fairly good PC: (12th Gen Intel Core i5-12600K 3.70 GHz. 48.0 GB RAM, NVidia RTX 4070, Samsung 980 Pro NVMe SSD), so I would expect everything to run nicely. It didn't on the previous build (lots of stuttering), but it does now. I updated to the lastest NVidia drivers and I'm guessing DLSS 3.0 is helping.

Haven't been to old bases, etc., yet, so I can't say what has changed, etc., but I'm not very into base-building, so I don't really care.

Hope you're having a similarly good experience!

I'm underwhelmed.
Tried to start my saved game and it crashed, but no worries. I always start a new game after every update, just because I enjoy that part best.
So, started a new game, anticipating all the new loveliness, only to find things looking and running almost exactly the same.
Yes, the clouds look better. Yes, there's wibbly water now.
Um. That's it.
There might be more variety after playing through a few worlds, but all the animals I saw were ones I've seen before, and whilst there were a couple of new mineral formations there was nothing that made me sit up and take notice.
I'll wait until the expedition comes out and approach it again that way.

Everything renders better? No kidding, planets don't render at all.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3291349211 Runs smoother? Well, probably not for me. Flying in space and over planets now cuts and freezes every now and then, as before when flying in hyperspace.

Mine crashed first time, rebooted same save file all was good then did a quick save, maybe try you're save again.

It's gone. I don't value my saves very much. I enjoy the start of the game more than any other part.

Ridiculous bad performance, stable 60 fps prior the update, now just a slide show.

Almost all mining bases are partly swallowed by terrain / environment. As if it's that hard to finally make the game recognize your built structures, to avoid that. Neverending story.

The mining bases i've checked so far, have no resouce spots anymore, what renders them completely useless.

There may be more, but thats what i found with a short run after the update.

So, they just messed up my ~700 hour save for no reason.

The endless mystery of No Man's Sky: same update, totally different outcomes for different people. Weird. I'm still having the exact opposite experience; everything is better. Sorry, I know that doesn't help you, but it's really strange that the update has such different outcomes on different systems

I have a NVIDIA card as well, and it runs a lot smoother than before. I am so happy about this, to play the game smoothly for a change and it looks so much better too.

Similar experience to the OP I suppose. Perhaps its an issue with AMD?

i5-6600, aging SATA SSDs, super slow DDR4 RAM, GTX 970... I won't even download the game anymore.. :P

utter garbage, unplayable fps stutter mess,, and my home world is now a hell hole extreme sentinels everywhere, i was a massive fan boy before update, and they will leave it in this state so it's game over, gone from number 1 to bottomed out in the blink of an eye, un believable, why not beta branch it?....they can't leave it like this man, i just wasted my money seriously?>? it ran so well before update, which is largely why i liked it so much

Your reaction reminds me the reactions I read in the past, with "Atlas Rises" and "NEXT".

Hello Games lost my loyalty with Atlas Rises... (because of how they dealt with save files and save files "upgrade")

Most likely mods are causing the issues. None of the other posters say if they play the game vanilla or use mods. I can imagine alot of people use mods, so that is probably the big solution to the mystery. After all, this happens with every game when they get updated. Some mods are broken and people have to wait till mod developers update them.

I'm sure they'll address the issue in the future. You guys have better computers than I do, yet mine runs much better on the same settings prior the update. So, something's up. It's not the end of the world ;)

Vanilla, i've never had any mods in this game.

I never used to drop below 144 fps before with my fps limited. Now I'm seeing 90s, constant 100s etc.

I just installed the Worlds update and get a white screen of death on start-up. I could run the previous update no worries. My PC is a few years old though.
