It's NMS, after all and logic doesn't always apply :)
If you get good and loaded out, I have a great time with my mech in sentinel and horror battles! Tons of fun and we can melt through those little basterds :)
No, the AI does not appear to be affected that I can tell when I tried it in a supercharge slot. Can't imagine what it would do anyway, but thought I'd try it to see if it targeted better or increased fir rate or something, but nope.
Strategically, I have discovered it sucks for AI against the little alien babies that spawn when you land in the expedition. Have not tried it just suiting up. The main complaint there is it gets damaged very easily by them.
It works best as your suit against the sentinel waves. At least for me. Rarely breaks, and just takes a little time to get used to the third person mode. (Again, for me since I usually always stay in first person mode)
It does feel very OP when fully upgraded for removing sentinels. I am happy about that since I am not a fan of combat and it makes it as brief as possible.
It just annihilated sentinels at the pillars with no damage taken on AI mode ( have S-class cannon upgrades too).
Never use it for mining though but as weather cover on extreme planets to move quickly around on the ground and underwater.
Just experiment for yourself and the super charged slots.
Just realised I hadn't answered your question either...
I usually just put the engine modules in the SC slots in my exocraft, but with the minotaur I tend to focus on the weapons... But I rarely use any of them for much beyond storage and radar scans, so I don't think I've got much insight into how best to use them.
