Then return settings to any of the defaults to continue. You might lose story progress but that can be whizzed through and if you start a custom save slot, the tutorial can be skipped. You could visit old bases from the different account if they have been uploaded and also visit favourite planets using portal addresses. Now we can build our own ships from parts finding the old ships (if you have the address where they came from) that becomes a non issue. All that would be lost is the 'Authenticated' flag.

I imagine the only issue would be a new separate Steam account presumably would have no recorded completed Expedition season data. The new account would also have less Quicksilver. Twitch drops possibly might be re-linked but not sure about that. However even many of those rewards can be traded between accounts like ships, eggs and so on. Quicksilver doesn't take that long to re-gain. The save editor could help on some season rewards I suppose but several of the past rewards have been re-released in the expedition cycle and likely will again. There is no guarantee of course but if you want to avoid the save editor or do not feel confident enough to use it then at least there are options using the in game custom difficulty settings. There is lots of online info about the saveeditor of course but be sure to back up game files before losing anything you might regret,

Not directly. The file formats are slightly different.

You can use a save editor to export them important information between saves, but it is not easy.
