Help with Cadmium drive, please

Ok, I'm new and don't know what I'm talking about, so I'll just list what is going on and maybe somebody can tell me with what I'm missing, please...

I am now being quested to create a Cadmium drive to go to a red star system.
I do not have the option to create a cadmium drive to go to a red star system.
I DO have the ability to create a green drive to go to green systems.
The green drive requires cadmium to make
Cadmium is only found in red star systems

hence my loop.

Is there another way to get Cadmium?

You need Chromatic Metal to make a Cadium drive. The drives will never require the same ingredient it needs for the same type of system.

Guessing you don't have the blueprint? Just go to the anomaly and buy it from the ship guy with nanites, If I remember right it needs chromatic metal to install.

The Cadmium drive is built using Chromatic metal which you can get by refining Copper (or any other star metal).
On Red star systems you get Cadmium, and use it to build the Emeril drive so you can get to Green star systems.
And on Green star systems you get Emeril, with which you build the Indium drive to get to Blue star systems.

You can get all the drive recipes at the Anomaly vendors.

Edit: You can also get Cadmium by dismantling Warp Drive upgrades, if you have some to spare and want to skip Red star systems for some reason.

Cadmium Drive (to get to red systems) requires Chromatic Metal (not Cadmium).
Emeril Drive (to get to green systems) requires Cadmium.
Indium Drive (to get to blue systems) requires Emeril.

An Indium drive gets you access to all 4 colours.

Aside from in the wild, you can find these here and there in space stations when 1) the guild merchant is configured to reward them, and 2) you have unlocked that tier by achieving the indicated status (faction) level for that particular guild (explorers, mercenaries, merchants).

If you're feeling gimpy, you can leave the system and come back to claim it again, and again, and again.

Same drill for other parts like ship, exosuit and multi-tool storage/slots.

Also, the mission givers on each station will occasionally offer missions with said rewards.

Also also, so will nexus missions in the Anomaly.
