//edit: this will only cost some 2-3.000 nanites per ship or multitool
Bases are transferred to the main account when you end the expo.
I usually play in survival mode, so the extra inventory space during expos makes it a very convenient time for building (although this is somewhat redundant if you use wire-glitch, as parts can be built for free when you're not carrying the resources)
All your stuff that you don't transfer via the Expedition Terminal will also be converted to units and nanites
You need to switch between Expedition and Normal Save back and forth WITHOUT ending the expedition. Then you can convert the ACTIVE ship and multitool from the expedition to the main save.
Switch back to experimental, change active ship and multitool. Switch back to normal, copy again.
Yes getting an S grad ship or S grade multitool for only a few thousand nanites back to your main save sounds like a cheat. On the other side, IF you found some cool S class ship and multitool and you CANNOT bring it back to your main save..... imagine that outroar !!!!!
I presume this works for Tech modules and Items too?
I would guess this is an oversight by the devs, otherwise why have the limitations on how much stuff you can transfer in one go?
Nah, it's not cheating. Cheating requires there to be some form of competition. Use all the glitches/exploits you want ;) And they added the ability to transfer stuff on purpose, (likely because people did complain that they couldn't keep stuff...)
The only way to "cheat" in NMS is using mods/exploits for PvP fights (and I imagine most people just turn off PvP once they encounter "sky lasers" for the first time anyway)
BUT ALL INSTALLED tech in the ship and the multitool which you copy over to your main save will be fully transfered.
// edit: Again a reminder: DO NOT END the expedition !
You can only switch back and forth before doing that!
Have you tried changing the tech upgrades you have equipped to see if it lets you copy the same tool/ship again? Not that it's necessary, 120 opened tech is already plenty (60 each for MT and ship) plus the 8 stacks of modules via the terminal is still quite a lot. Just curious...
You can copy ANY multitool and ANY starship with ALL installed tech AT THIS VERY MOMENT you switch from expedition to main - but not with inventory! - to your main save for 2.800 nanites.
Same for multitool for 2.200 nanites. (can vary depending on class quality)
And obviously you can copy them as often as you want - and your space allows, remember, multitools: 6 max, starships: 12 max.
// edit: propably still not clear enough so again: ANY installed tech will be copied over, this means obviously too, you install more, different or overinstall tech and that exact setup as it is in expedition will copy over. So yes, you can copy ALL ship and multitool tech you found in expedition via starship/multitool body copy to your main save, if you want that, that is.
// edit2: example: I have found in expedition space, also with the help of community bases, 4 S-Class Sentinell Interceptors (you can also lookup Bases of me near them), and 2 (1 upgraded to) S-Class Multitools. Obviously they are now already in my Main Save saved.
