So I fell into space and died, is inventory recovery possible?
Title, I was trying to get to a damaged point on my combat frigate, I didn't find a way to walk to it so I flew a bit around the ship, and ended up falling trough it, and dying.
I respawned on the space station, and all of my inventory including a lot of quest items, brains and tons of ressources have disappeared.
I never died like that in space, can I get my inventory back somehow?

You can use your ship to go check near the frigate you fell off. The game does put graves in space and you just fly up to it to reclaim. In my personal experience of dying by falling through the floor of the freighter- a glitch that can happen- the grave is stuck somewhere inside the freighter so essentially gone.

Also be aware if you somehow died twice during your event, the grave will be empty.

Things like this are a good reason to make your own personal save back ups. You may lose a few hours or days depending on your last one, but often a better option to regaining all you lost when you died.

As you learned, never use your jetpack on a frigate. Just be patient.

I've had it happen, I panicked and slammed on F4... Loading back in a random npc in space popped up a dialogue box and gave me my items.

Yeah I pressed alt+F4 after I respawned and realized I lost my inventory.. it was too late, and I didn't find a grave marker at all.

That sounds nice, it didn't happen to me, I've been flying for a bit around my capital ship looking for a grave.
This kind of thing is quite frustrating, I lost many "unique" items, ones I only got once at least so far.. items from quests that lingered in my inventory as well, I don't know if my save is soft locked for future quests now..
Not to mention the brains and stuff that took hours for me to gather.
Weird that Hello Games didn't think to put a fail safe on that front, with the semi solid surfaces on the frigates, I bet I'm not the only one that it happen to..

well, the grave thing depends on the difficulty you're playing on. I don't think the game drops a grave marker on the harder difficulty setting

One of the reasons I prefer to play with no death consequences. I don't mind dying, but for this game, the consequences kind of suck and it's too easy to loose your stuff completely.

Yeah I might shut them off as well, as even leaving a grave, sometimes it puts me 800+ units away and I basically die due to hazard damage trying to get back to it, mod I am using makes it really hurt.

Allright I'm done, second time I die, with an inventory even bigger than last time, for another unfair reason : after I reset the Atlas, it sent me to a new planet, with all of my upgrades disabled, during a toxic storrm that killed me in mere seconds, multi tool unusable, not time to even think of what is going on, no open cave to hide in. Okay, I'll die, and try to come back to my inventory I thought. But I respawned in space this time, witch killed me even faster.
For a game that is been out this long, one might think these kind of things should not happen..

That is bad. But if you are that weak then you should not carry around so much valuable inventory. Also you should be able to dig hole and hide from any storm.

Every single slot of my suit/tool/ship was damaged, so no way to dig a hole either.

@Burgzaza
Did you try to reload your restore point or just the autosave?
Autosave is very unreliable... and can happen just after you respawn following the death...
restore point is better, but still has it's limitations... if you dont want to make a new save, you have to be careful not to get out of your ship on planet surface/space stations/personal freighters

I did encounter an issue with this since Worlds 1 update, only happened to me once, but digging in a spiral very deep underground didn't help at all, I was still exposed... had to dig my way into a cave network before I was considered "inside"....

I alt + f4 when I respawned in space, when I relaunched the game, I was hovering the surface of the planet I died on, but no grave in sight. Anyway, I'm done with the game, it's constantly trying to kill you, but fails at the most basic of features, like a solid rerspawn and grave system.

Ok, so you closed the game, but did you just let the game load your most recent save (most likely the autosave) or did you try loading your "restore point" save?

I've never had any issues with the grave system... But I've only ever died a few times (primarily due to glitches like you described...), so I've not had much experience with the death mechanics

I load the save like I do when I launch the game, I didn't know there was another way, how do you do it?

It's in the start menu...
click the "options" tab, look under "save data", "reload restore point" ;)
Hope this fixes your issue...
And in case you missed it earlier:
