Base Computer Archives quest is miserible
when does it end? I wanna do all the quests but I'm about to give up. I've lost count how many times it sends me to a new planet to read half a paragraph of text and get an upgrade that's worthless to me at this point in the game. Then go back to base just to get sent to a new planet to read half a paragraph of text and get an upgrade that's worthless to me at this point in the game. Then go back to base just to get sent to..... when does it end....

These quest honestly have become obsolete imo, since you can just go buy the recipes you gain at the Anomaly.

They do end at some point. No need to chase after them though, you can safely ignore that you have the base computer thing. You will reach subsequent stages anyway, by just playing the game.

Preach on, last time I did that questline it gave me something like 6 duplicates of the same underwater exosuit upgrade in a row. Pretty much ignoring it this time through.

Could say the same about the tutorial quests in general...

Well those are important still for new players, otherwise they would be lost. Which is confirmed by many people coming on here for questions. But once you know the game, skipping the tutorial is definitely the way to go.

It ends? I assumed it would just keep going and ignored it. I thought it was like the other 4-5 quests that cannot end or be canceled.

Figured it was like the game telling me to spend my salvaged data anytime I enter the anomaly... ive bought it all. Leave me alone already!

I might be getting it mixed up with the exocraft missions in terms of how many, but yes, they end.
There are infinite missions available if you speak to the overseer, but I believe the quest completes after you do ~10 of them, and is removed from the quest log (only reason I bothered with them)

Yeah, they definitely do with an overhaul. Some other storyline quests as well, the Specialist stories in particular.

For a game with no meaningful plot (there are barely characters and calling them characters is generous), it's surprising they have kept any questing bits at all at this point.

We could use an option when starting a new game to enable or disable all the story/tutorial BS entirely.

Ugh, that part is the most tedious quest in existence.

I kept getting sent to the SAME PLANET, to the SAME BUILDING and having to read a couple of sentences, then fly all the way back to my base, where I would promptly get sent back to the same building on the same planet to do it all over again.

Lol after playing like 800 hours I finally picked those missions up. I do them in between.

haha, that's pretty ridiculous alright.
I would recommend building a terminal for the overseer on your freighter, then you can bring it to a new system each time to at least have some variety of locations in this extremely boring mission

Been saying this for years. A pure sandbox mode (not creative) that turns off all the "hey, do this thing!" stuff and just lets you do whatever you want would be amazing.
