The more safe and common workaround is to just warp or just a black hole to get a long distance from your current location and the game will let you reset the mission to the new area.
Sounds promising. However, I've travelled through a black hole and it didn't do anything. How will the game let me do that? And how far away do I have to jump?
I am very familiar with GF's editor, but even I would not attempt to dig out the right area and edit it. Mainly because the way the .json file is set up there are more than one place that values have to be changed.
For example someone suggested that a player wanting to get to a different galaxy should just open the .json and change the galaxy number and they would be good to go. NOPE! I know that are at least 2 possibly 3 places, not near each other where the galaxy number and the coordinates IN that galaxy would have to be changed, and unless you are sure where you need to be located you must not change anything, it could completely corrupt the save file and make it unload-able.

as for the distance, generally 1000LY from the bugged system will allow you to reset... blackholes are easier, if you can see them, because they throw you tens of thousands of LYs away...
I did. Apparantly, I just had to do it multiple times.
I think a lot of the confusion these players have is the Log jumping away from their mission and leaving them lost. I wish that HG would change that, add a mission but DO NOT instantly change to that mission! Leave the log alone, when they are ready for the 'next' mission then they will change the log themselves.
Yup, that's annoying as hell. So is the sentinel wanted system.
