Save editor - help needed
In a previous thread in here I explained how I'm stuck in the mission, "The First Traveler". Not my fault, the game bugs out by putting a mission marker for a monolith inside unbreakable bedrock.

I've now downloaded a save editor (by goatfungus). I've looked around in some other Steam threads on how to use the editor to edit your missions but I can't for the life of me figure it out. Can someone walk me through how to reset or advance my mission.

And, please: don't be afraid to explain it to me like I'm 8 years old 👶🏼

That is a very tricky operation. Way beyond my skill level assuming it is even possible.
The more safe and common workaround is to just warp or just a black hole to get a long distance from your current location and the game will let you reset the mission to the new area.

Sounds promising. However, I've travelled through a black hole and it didn't do anything. How will the game let me do that? And how far away do I have to jump?

To change that in the save editor you would need to know what your doing in editing a Raw Json file, not something most people should even consider. I know it sounds inconvenient but your very best option is to restart with a new save, and try to watch out for glitches or bugs.

I am very familiar with GF's editor, but even I would not attempt to dig out the right area and edit it. Mainly because the way the .json file is set up there are more than one place that values have to be changed.

For example someone suggested that a player wanting to get to a different galaxy should just open the .json and change the galaxy number and they would be good to go. NOPE! I know that are at least 2 possibly 3 places, not near each other where the galaxy number and the coordinates IN that galaxy would have to be changed, and unless you are sure where you need to be located you must not change anything, it could completely corrupt the save file and make it unload-able.

This will help you see what's involved and may yield a solution. Just make sure you back up your files before doing anything!

generally speaking, you jump through a black hole... then check that quest in the Log tab... there should be a red whirlpool... holding it should reset the quest to the local area... then you can teleport back where you were and reset it once more... now it should hopefully find a better location... or you can stay where the blackhole threw you and do it there... up to you...

as for the distance, generally 1000LY from the bugged system will allow you to reset... blackholes are easier, if you can see them, because they throw you tens of thousands of LYs away...

I think a lot of the confusion these players have is the Log jumping away from their mission and leaving them lost. I wish that HG would change that, add a mission but DO NOT instantly change to that mission! Leave the log alone, when they are ready for the 'next' mission then they will change the log themselves.

Yeah. Changing the active mission with the player unaware has caused more trouble....

Yup, that's annoying as hell. So is the sentinel wanted system.
