Friends and I cannot join each other's games....
As the title reads. We have added each other via No Man's Sky friend code thingy, because when we try to add each other again, the game says we are already friends. While on a planet (because it seems like the only place to see your friends list, really crap design btw ADD IT TO THE MAIN MENU FFS) we can see each other on the steam friends list, but not on the No Man's Sky friends list (the right side)

We can see each other's lobbies, but the gaem says "connecting" then nothing, showing someone did join their lobby (2/4 players for example) before reverting back to 1/4 players.

We have been struggling hours now, and if I see one more response like "try syncing your time zone" or "quit the game and try again" I am going to go bald with the amount of hair I am pulling out trying to get this to work. Please for the love of my hairline help!!!

When trying to connect to each others' game one of you is launching the game (left box) and the other person is using Join Friends (right box) to try to connect, yes? I'm assuming you're already Steam friends since you're posting here. You can't connect with both in-game (or at least I never have successfully), one person launches and the second joins their session.

My friend and I had a similar issue, it seemed to be related to him going invisible in the Steam friends list all the time (he wasn't setting it).

You should see your friends in the Anomaly ...

Had exact same issue last night. Turned out my friend's save was an old one and that seems to make it incompatible for me to join. What we did was:

He started up his old save in solo mode and forced a new save by leaving his ship.
I restarted the game in Join Friends mode, picked his lobby, and now it worked (no longer hanging at "Connecting...")

It appeared to be a server side thing bc we can join each others game now. But we still cant see each other in the NMS friends list. But we can see each other on steam friends list

To see each other in game you need to add a friend in game manually.
Launch game - Join friends - show My No Man's Sky Friend code.

These kinds of responses are what pisses me and other people off the most. Spamming useless answers and flooding threads with actual solutions. Like we haven't tried this method first. Also proves that you didn't read my op as well. We did add each other in the game, trying to do so again confirms that they are indeed on our friends list, but in game, at the menu you point out, there is nothing there for both of us. I tried adding a random at the nexus as well, and same issue. But it works now, because it was a server side issue at the time. Please read next time before you post clutter level non solutions.
