Acquiring Gek Nip to sell on a station

**edit for the purposes of this post which is aimed at new players, Gek Nip and Nip Nip Buds are the same thing - an illegal substance you can get for free and sell at a high return.

Here's a fun thing - if you actually manage to get Gek Nip onto a station the returns are quite high being a banned substance and all.

The easy way is to leave your stash on your Freighter which you’ve equipped with a Matter Beam upgrade and cycle to its inventory by pressing “C” while in the trade terminal.

What’s that? you’re just starting out and don’t have a freighter or a Matter Beam upgrade and don’t even know where to find the Nip to smuggle in the first place?

Worry not.

Any freighter that shows up as a white icon on your hud in a system can be visited - this mechanic lets you get to chat to the captain to discuss purchasing his freighter.

However you can also not bother chatting to the captain and instead go up the green-lit staircase opposite to enter the back area of the freighter.

There are a few layouts but the one you’re looking for will have a central corridor opening left and right into hydroponic rooms and ending in a T junction. At the T junction you’ll find a glassed in courtyard, following the corridor around it, will take you into a much larger room full of several single hydroponic bays filled with Nip Nip buds, which you can freely harvest.

Hop into your ship and head to the station.
If you are unlucky and get scanned by Sentinels on the way, you will be asked whether you want to surrender the Nip, or refuse. Refuse and unless you’re confident about facing down multiple sentinel waves and a sentinel carrier, run to the station.

You can sell the Nip at upwards of 260% markup.

I have 3 major farms for my Nip Nip Buds, the one at my Current Pirate base that grows 400 Buds, my Main Nip Nip farm (Called Mary Jane's House Redux since I moved it) that grows 1,920 Buds, and the one on my Freighter (Pirate Dreadnought) that grows 900 Buds. Basically what I do is I start in my Freighter (Causes the Nip Nip to automatically placed in my Freighter's inventory), then go to my main Nip Nip farm, then my Pirate base farm. When I'm done, I'll just use the Base Teleporter to go to a Regulated System, and sell the Buds in my "drug" ship (A Hauler with max Storage I call Renegade) first since it normally has the most Nip Nip Buds in it (I have quite a bit of other stuff in my Freighter), then my Freighter, them my Exosuit.

Is there a difference in price between physically going to the station versus just selling at a trade station either on your freighter you jumped into a regulated system or a base you built in said system, since they tap into that system's mercantile?

Some systems (like obviously the Gek) will pay a premium for buds. Personally I just cultivate it on my freighter and sell it from there whenever I have an annoying amount of stacks.

Gek Nip is not contraband, only Nip NIp Buds are.

No, apart from the thrill of doing something illegal. It's like robbing a bank vs embezzlement. And sometimes you want to have a showdown with a sentinel capital ship.

But think about the Gek children when their parents are spaced out on Gek Nip. A lot of them end up as the special at a Kentucky Fried Gek restaurant because they're helpless and easy to kidnap when on the Nip. Oh, the Gekmanity!
