Question about S-Rank Freighters
Is there a good method to try and farm a S-Rank Freighter? Been hopping from Pirate system to system doing the fights and was told it's a 5% chance the freighter is a S-Rank
Is there a quick method to doing this or just keep doing what I'm doing and eventually one may spawn?

sadly I believe that is the only current best method with highest chance as far as im aware.

before autosave was added and you could board the freighter without fighting the battle, you could make a save when you knew it was scheduled to be a battle on the next warp, warp, land on the ship and check out its class, then restore the manual save back in the previous system and just keep trying for a better roll. You could still manually backup your save to accomplish the same thing by copying the save files, but you can't skip the battle anymore, so it will be a lot of fighting for each check. the type of freighter would always be the same for every system, but class and modules would vary.

Of course this is only relevant when you want a capital or pirate freighter. If you are happy with a small system freighter, just look for a system that has one that you like and then pulse drive a stretch to reroll the freighter spawns and check. It's how I got mine. Still a grind, but less of it.

Oof...
I think I've done around 30ish fights so far but have only seen 2 A-Ranks, 2 B-Ranks, and the rest C's
On the plus side, rescuing the freighter its attacking has maxed my faction standings mostly, gotten me about 20,000 nanites, and around 200mil in credits lol

If you don't care about style, just check the freighters in each system. S class freighters (with very few slots) are not that uncommon. They also tend to be kind of fugly looking but it is not like they have a big purpose in the game. Getting the advantages of S class may be worth not getting the look you would prefer.

I found one in like four jumps to different systems, your RNG may differ.

You can still do this with the restore point save. That's how I got my S class Dreadnought a couple weeks ago

Same, found a dreadnaught fight in a pirate system, saved at the station then it took 42 reloads to get the S class to spawn. The majority were C class, 2-3 B class and 1 A class. Whole process was about 3 hours.

If you have enough cash to just buy a freighter outright rather than relying on battles to get one for free (run around and find some of the dissonant planet sentinel-type starships to salvage, they're very valuable), then just find a 3-star economy system with a model of freighter you like, and as someone upthread mentioned, pulse for short distances. Every time you drop out of pulse mode there'll usually be a fleet containing 1-2 freighters somewhere in visual range, and within a few seconds to a minute a second fleet will usually warp in as well. Usually at least one of the resultant freighters from the two fleets is one you can land on and check out (and sometimes multiple are). You don't even need to go speak to the captain on the bridge, just go into scanner mode within the docking bay, and part of the information displayed to lower left will be the freighter's class. Still adds up to find an S-class, but probably still faster than finding one via fighting battles.

5% - only for outlaw systems.
2% - for 3 star economy system.
1% - for 2 star.
And you will never get S in 1 star economy.

Heh you tell me! i just spend more than 6 hrs doing "battlestar galatica reruns" to get a S class resurgent earlier today... it will come sooner or later.

Heres the spec

I had tens of pirate fights to finally get an S-class Sentinel Dreadnought. It's just about patience and farming.
