1) via beacon
2) via camp
3) by destroying 5 waves of corrupted sentinels
You can also find it randonly, but that is kinda obvious.
So, the best way is via beacon. Go into space, provoke space battle with sentinels, defeat all waves and destroy sentinels dreadnough - hop, you got a beacon. Activate it and it will show you the way directly to the nearest sentinel ship, even if it is in another system.
-Locate a dissonnant world. On the galactic map it'll say when you hover over a star.
-On the planet destroy the weird drill things. They can drop an item that locates a harmonic camp.
-Go to the camp and mark it with a beakon or something.
-At the camp you can locate a crashed ship. You can use the camp to locate an infinite amount of ships (the look is the same for all ships of a planet).
-If you like the look of the ship make a base nearby ti be able to come back. Keep locating them until you find one with a good rank.
You can find Echo Locators by shooting Dissonance Resonator. The drop rate is about 1 in 10.
You are correct. Uninhabited systems do not have harmonic camps or crash sites. Either do lifeless planets. But you can farm Echo Locators on those planets.
That is true. You can spot those corrupted sentinals very easy on barren surface. Preferably in a pirate system so you can shoot them from your ship without having a wanted level.
Also, very easy to spot and mine shards from a Nomad exocraft.
That's why I use a mod called "Sentinel Cockpit No Red Circuitry View"

Lol what bother me the most is finding out the true seam lines of the cockpit door on those sentinel ships. Yes the hinge area is the bliack square on top, but somewhere below the strobe is a hidden seem. It remains a mistery :-)
You can then fight sentinels on foot, or aggro them in your ship by shooting at the space station.
If you successfully complete all the waves in either form, you get an item that allows you to locate a sentinel ship.
Gl frien.
Battling 5 waves isn't easy when you still have a starter ship and hunting for locators/mirrors on the ground isn't so tough because you can run/go underground as needed. If I remember correctly, you only get the location of one ship after wiping out the sentinel freighter rather than the location of a camp that can find multiple ships.
