Expedition 14, Milestone Iron Giants (Hunt and Destroy Sentinel Walkers)
What exactly needs to be done here. I have destroyed several Walkers but only 1 is accounted for and the counter remains on 1 although I have been killing many more. I have used a map to find a sentinel nest, and killed walkers there too. Not credited. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

just checking... did you kill the walker that gets summoned when you get to wanted lvl 5 (looks like a Star Wars AT-ST walker) or the hardframe (mechsuit/minotaur) that spawns at wanted lvl 4 or can be found guarding a sentinel pillar?
I only ask because the exosuit says something like "sentinel walker detected" when you reach lvl 4 (when a hardframe spawns)

there is a bug related to this counter, but I had no issues with my game...
I killed everything (disabling the sentinels), opened the box the walker drops, then shot it to destroy it too (you get double the drops from it this way).

The game is slightly misleading when fighting waves of Sentinels. The "Walker" that appears on wave 4 and patrolling some Manufacturing Facilities and Pillars (similar size to your Minotaur exocraft) is NOT the walker that counts. It will drop a Hardframe Engine in its combat supplies barrel.
The really big walker at wave 5 is the one that yields a brain (or 2). When it is defeated, it will have a large box structure (often left at the top of the legs) that you can interact with to get a brain, then shoot to get a 2nd.

You'll know when you defeat a walker as it will disable the sentinels on that planet until you leave the system or quit the game session.

What smurfy wrote, plus at the end of what he's described you'll also get a map to a sentinel pillar. Go there and if you beat the initial waves, you'll spawn another "full size" walker you can destroy. (Doing this also will temporarily disable all sentinels in the system until you leave it. )

If you have trouble defeating the sentinels at a pillar:
Don't engage on the ground, 1st jet pack to the top of the pillar, then engage them from up top. They have a lot harder time of targeting you up there. Makes the fight much easier imo.

Thanks for the tip. Killed the correct walkers but the counter does not count anymore.

So harvesting its brain is not good enough? I am sure I downed the correct ones. Counter still stuck at 1.

In that case, if the normal trouble shooting (verify game files, reboot PC/console) doesn't solve the issue, probably best to submit a bug report.

Usually when you finish off the Walker, all minor Sentinels around will immediately explode and you'll trigger the temporary Sentinel amnesty. Sometimes (rarely) smaller Sentinels will have escaped the immediate battle radius and will not be auto-killed, and the amnesty won't trigger until you hunt them down and kill them.
Trouble is, they often get too far away and your wanted level will drop as you chase them. It can be annoying. The healers are particularly notorious for this. I've had them escape vertically and there's no way to chase them up there. Your only option then is to start again and make sure none of them escape.

I have validated files (in Steam) and have been hunting again. Better luck this time as 3 were accounted for and 1 missed. Guess I just had bad luck or it is a glitch. Never mind, will get there :-)

I'm not even getting walkers spawning. I remember in the base game this happens if difficulty is set too low, but even on Hostile, no walkers. It ends and I get a dissonant spike, but no walkers spawn.

What setting is causing this? It's the only task I have left in the expedition lol.

Walkers do not spawn on Dissonant planets when fighting Corrupted Sentinels.
All 5 waves of Corrupted Sentinels are different to standard Sentinel battles.

Did you know that in some expeditions you can alter the difficulty in options without penalty. In this one you can decrease the fighting ability and toughness of all sentinals. I too was struggling to beat the sentinals and walkers (I usually mostly explore so not practised at the tougher fights) so I turned them down and then beat the giant walker and all that led up to it with my minotaur using his cannon quite easily and could probably have done it without the minotaur.
Then if you get in your ship then out again to create a restore point you can reload that restore point and repeat until 4 have been beat.
I can't even find the system to try it in. I've completed every single task (including the extra ones) now I'm lost and no amount of backtracking helps. Searching online gives me a few different names for the single system & planet but I can't find it in the list of places I've been - and I know I've been because I completed Dropzone 5 of Stage 5. All the HUD does is taunt me by telling me what to do and that I only have 19 hours left to do it. I've been beaten by Sentinels on every planet I land on trying to achieve it but walkers never show up anywhere. There's eventually a cat like one that goes invisible that's easy to beat but the task remains at zero.

I give up. There's no point trying to do it anymore. I was enjoying the game before I started this event by accident looking for nanites to claim the gold ship. Now I'm not sure I even want to play the base game at all.
Sentinel walkers are in every populated system. Look for any manufacturing center and attack the sentinels. Waves of sentinels will result in a Walker eventually,
Find another manufacturing center on another planet in the sector and attack them again.
