To reach the center of the universe in permadeath. Does it work only in survival mode, or i may set all things easy in custom mode, only with added permadeath setting?

You can't add permadeath mode to any existing save.
Permadeath can only be created from scratch.
So you need to start a new game and select permadeath preset (formally now it's under custom settings).

Well i know that this game won't allow me to change difficulty settings mid game. :) But i hope you answered my question. Of course i meant starting from scratch.

Im pretty sure if you change any of the settings, it changes from "Permadeath" to "Custom" so it won't count. You have to play Permadeath with all the settings as they are.

Permadeath can only be added when you start a custom game. And yes you need to start your game with both survival and permadeath setup. If you are doing both take a breath and to live forever. It would be easier you just played a survival permadeath. It's not exactly hard just need to be careful with things you likely would not bothered with in normal or survival alone.

In fact, I just restarted my own 2024 permadeath session last week. It's doing quite well now.

It's way easier now than in 2019 where they don't even have auto lock for combat back then, which means combat was almost always snuff out back then. Glad they offer combat assistance and make the game more comfortable. But again digressed. Good luck mate!

I just started normal settings with permadeath setting, only one setting changed when it turn on permadeath and that is item stacks, others are just normal difficulty. I think i'll manage :) I just need to get to universe center, i have no interest in playing this save.

If you exit to main menu your save should be labeld with skull and PermaDeath word.
If you just choose PermaDeath option but not whole preset, most likely game will be counted as Custom.

I slightly cheated to get this achievement. I played as usual to build up supplies and fix my ship etc. Then headed for the space station. Then I kept jumping from system to system until I found a traveler in a station. Found his grave to get the first glyph. Then found a portal and put that glyph in for all slots. That landed me VERY close to the center. Then just kept jumping till I got there and went through.

I am not someone that likes permadeath so I deleted the save shortly thereafter. I only did it for the achievement.

What do you mean the whole preset? There is no game mode called Permadeath, not even survival have it. The only permadeath option is only in custom when you click it.

You can't change any settings if you want the Steam achievement. Otherwise, go for it.

There is no cheating in no man sky, any actions does the deed appropriately will be rewarded appropriately. Hack some talented folks even hexedit their titles, it’s a pity I have no talent for it.

Oh that you mean... well as i said. I set it all to normal, then turned on permadeath and only one setting was changed with that one. People says that only that one permadeath setting is important for achievement, not the whole preset.
