How is the co-op?
How is the co-op? Is there a real co-op experience? Can you do missions together?

Co-op can best be described as "playing alone, togetther". You can explore together, though the first person to to upload discoveries gets full credit. You can build together, but the person that placed the computer owns it. You can run missions together, but they will usually have objectives in different systems and if they DO overlap can break for one person. The only MP aspect that works seamlessly is Nexus missions.

Limited. Maybe one day HG will expand it. It would be great if you could create your own custom missions and invite friends with everyone getting the rewards.

Pretty sure it's going to be fine in their new game but I doubt NMS will see improvement.

Sync is a major issue as most stuff is client side so animals, weather and buildings you see you friend might not, etc. But i doubt you will see an update to that before light no fire comes out but if we are lucky it's netcode will be transplanted into NMS as that game appears to be built for Multiplayer.

Noob here, just started playing with my friend (also noob). We have attempted to play together from the start of the game.

Report...

Co-oping this game delivers quite possibly the most wretched, negative, unfun experience you could ever have in a video game. It is an absolute nightmare. Trying to push forward the main quest line is a bug-riddled exercise in absolute frustration and my friend ragequit the entire game (I mean uninstalled) after 1 session.

Do not try it.

i would think in theory, for base building..
A) you can give your friends permissions to edit your base..
2) if you can get the distance right, i've heard it's 300 units (distance, not the money called units) from where you put your base that you claim.. so you each put a base claim at 600 units apart, then build on the edge near each other SHOULD work to make it feel like one big base.

i do not know how much you can share resources tho, if at all.

My husband and I keep on dropping out of the game to the point where we spend more time logging in and getting more frustrated than we do on game play. It's such a shame, not least because I have hesitant for years but finally agreed

:steamthis: about says it all... except the nexus missions seamless !!! Lol
Azure you should watch some youtube vids of 'Captain Steve' weekly attempts to run weekend missions with chums... they can be pretty hilarious... there's even one guy who regularly gets disconnected from the group almost every time... not to mention the glitches that occur as 4 people try to do the mission... great stuff, comedy gold

All I want is proper Coop for this game. They keep doing DLCs for things that really don't matter much.
