Planets I have discovered and explored are showing as unknown in Discoveries. Why?
Many planets including my first planet spawned on and the planet that my base is built upon are showing up as 'unknown' in Discoveries even though I have explored and uploaded data on flora, fauna, and minerals. About 1/2 of my discovered planets along with the uploaded discoveries are not in my Discoveries tab, are listed 'unknown' and are not selectable. Any ideas?

I started this game a couple days ago, after the update. Was there a reset in the past couple of days?

No idea, but the lesson to be learned is that the Discovery service is a shame. It has never been accurate. 100% of players can vouch for at least one instance where it did not make sense ... at least those that might have cared/paid attention lol.

When I first started playing it was a selling point {when the game launched}, but then we all saw it in practice and had to learn the art of not caring. I have personally lost count of the absurdities related to it. .. to the point of behavior change ... like not even bothering to try and name anything ... since the game does not care either.

Even if you name something, then game still preserves its original name ... slapping yours on top like a cheap piece of masking tape.

There was a huge update to public release. But 5.0 brought the Galactic Discovery Reset to all users of all online save files.

It is a shame because it was the log record of where I had found certain resources.

Well I hope it comes back. I do not want to sound too dreary, but am just one of many that felt let down by it ... even though it is just a game and a fantasy lol. My first major red flag was when the game claimed I had discovered a system "10 years ago" when the game had only been out for nearing 7 years at the time lol.

I suppose I wanted it to mean something ... shame on me lol.

I assumed that the game just "forgot" older data as you went along. A bunch of my earlier planet info was listed as 'unknown' long before the update. I found when I re-scanned the items they appeared with the names I had given them, including my starter planet. Of course, with the new re-naming things, rediscovering a planet you named to begin with might erase the first name.

'Older data' I suppose. I discovered this stuff a couple days ago and I have only visited 4 systems. I will give the scan it again a try. Good idea.

It should be mentioned to be fair ... many were complaining about the service being down. This might have had an effect on your stuff? I admit I have been afraid to play lol ... an odd feeling.

I cannot confirm it as I have not played in a few days ... waiting on Community Research lol.

That is normal. The game allows you and other players to still earn some nanites after a period of time. Your original discoveries remain in the database, but it provides a reason to at least explore known planets at some point. It is a feature not a bug.

I figured it was also to save some memory or whatever is in charge of keeping track of all that stuff.

Online services not working might explain why I received discovery credit for a planet that I'm pretty sure I wasn't the first one on. Seemed odd.

if you have a freighter with the scanner room, revisit the system and scan from there.
